Highlights
  • Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf - Passing by the famous Bryggen Wharf and UNESCO site as we are heading out of the buzzlng city on the way to the Golden Circle of the Fjords and waterfalls.
  • Nordhordland Bridge - The Nordhordland Bridge has completely sealed off the beautiful Osterfjord area to cruise travelers since it was built in 1994. Hence have this area been inaccessible as the modern boats are far too big to venture under the small inlet.

The Nordhordland Bridge is a marvel of engineering and is North Europes longest floating bridge without side anchors. The large arch construction is made to withstand the current in the fjord as the tide travels in and out twice a day.

  • Vikanes - As we travel along the fjord side, we make a fjordside stop at Vikanes to gaze at the mirror-like waters in this highly protected area. Tall mountains surround the place and make wind and weather to be a Bergen City phenomena
  • Mostraumen - The Mostaruam tidal channel is one of the narrowest areas of the fjords and this is where the Osterfjord stopped until the spring of 1743 when a large flood washed away the outlet of what used to be a river from the Mo lake. As a result - the tide now comes in and with it saltwater. The Fjord is as a result the “youngest” fjord in Norway and did not exist 300 years ago.
  • Mo - Mo Village is a picturesque small place with only some 380 inhabitants. The Mo waterfront is a group of modern buildings that have its architecture inspired from long traditions as it resembles both the Bryggen Wharf in Bergen and the historical seahouses found along the fjord banks in many small places. Here we make a longer stop of 20 minutes so people can have a restroom visit and a cup of coffee at the local shops.
  • Hesjedalsfossen - The Hesjedalsfossen twin waterfall plunges into a free fall of some 63 meters (206 feet) as it falls into a cavity on the Fjord bank. We stop just meters away from it and during the spring it is wize to bring an umbrella for the best view and keeping dry.
  • Kallestadsundet - The Kallestad bridge connects the largest inland island in Europe, Osteroy - to the mainland. The bridge offers a spectacular viewpoint with the unique roadless Veafjord scenery in the background. Definitely the tours “hottest” photospot
  • Stamneshella - After Stamneshella we make a small stop at the strongest tidal current in south Norway and where the name, STRAUME actually translates directly to the English word “current”. During the lowering tide the fjord looks like a wild river and the force of nature becomes obvious to see with your own eyes. After this stop we start our return to Bergen as we arrive at the larger road E-16 leading back to the cruise port.

The Tourguide was fabulously entertaining - Over the years, I have taken many tours in the places I've gone to and have seen and heard quite a few tour guides as a result. However, Bjorn, who led the tour around the Golden Circle, must be the most entertaining one I have had the pleasure of listening to. He was able to do anything from jokes to in-depth stories about the political issues of Norway, the climate debate, and the life of the modern Vikings of Norway. There is no doubt that the tour and scenery is great, but the tourguide made this such a good tour that we kept our discussion about these topics even at late night. Top-notch hasslefree tour that is easy to recommend.

Golden Circle Dream Tour - This was an amazing tour! We were met by our guide Bjorn and immediately felt welcomed to Bergen he explained that we were going to be in an area that is not usually frequented by tourists but was beautiful and very interesting. Once we were in the countryside it was a photographers dream, the landscape, waterfalls and fjords were just so beautiful. Being a local Bjorn had lots of history and stories to tell. The companies professionalism and quick response to my questions via email prior to the tour was outstanding. Thank you for going ahead with the tour for just the two of us it was greatly appreciated. A tour not to be missed !

Golden Circle - five hours of amazing scenery - Incredibly well organized and with just enough time on the well-planned photo stops. We had a thrill and the bus was very warm after each early spring photo stop. The views from the windows were great and the large windows gave all an opportunity to see out, even if not being in a window seat. Recommended

Way better than the famous "Norway in a Nutshell" - I booked two tours for my Bergen journey, and it came as a surprise that this rather affordable tour was way better than the famous NIN tour. We left of from the meeting point in the bus and instead of jumping from different modes of transportation, this tour took us comfortably around the roughly 5 hour tour. As a engineer, I was absolutely stunned by the narrow roads and the hand-driven tunnels that's truly worth a mention. The bus driver even stopped shortly inside and let us see the openings that were made before electric light was illuminating them. From our perspective this tour has it all and is giving you all you need in a way better timeframe than it's big brother that goes on for more than 11 hours. We returned to Bergen at 1 PM, just in time for a lunch. Highly recommended.

I suddenly got a private tour :-) - Due to my tour being in March, there were no other participants on my departure and I got a private tour instead of a cancellation. What a thrill! The guide and driver Haakon shared a large amount of info, but in a very entertaining way. And no areas of the areas rich history were left behind. Our conversation ran so smooth that I forgot to take all those typical pictures, and instead listened to how he menaged to keep the tour interesting by connecting all the dots together during the tour. Now I know this will not be like this for the entire summer - but given you have a fraction of the tour I had, you should book it right away. The scenes are incredible and the guides knowledge and way of conveying it made this a top notch tour.

Perfect for the solo traveler..... - I picked the early departure and for a solo traveler like me it was great to join a tour that did indeed highlight the fjords and amazing scenes in just some 5 hours. The pickup was easy to find on Google Maps and we got out to the Osterfjord in just some 25 minutes counting from the Fishmarket. Great value for money and the driver and audio guide kept us up to date on all the well chosen stops along the route. I managed to capture a few shots of Marilyn and her friends whom also participated in one of the many waterfalls we saw / stopped at.

11 out of 10 - I had a wonderful day on tour, with guide Bjørn. He showed us some beautiful spots driving around the fjord. I really enjoyed his stories, jokes, facts as much as the places we visited. Time just snapped. Thank you!

Very smooth tour and just enough time..... - This was the perfect tour for me. I did not want to opt for the many full day tours and here we used some 6 hours in total with all I could think of worth seeing while in Bergen. The driver Sorin was impeccable considering the narrow and challenging roads and we had a number of stops where the onboard Audio guide gave a rich insight to all we saw. For waterfall enthusiasts this tour is very good.
