A wonderful experience and a lovely souvenir painting! - This was in June 2022, but I forgot to add this review after adding my sketch review on Martin’s painting class. I highly recommend this class! Martin was so very patient with me as a beginner and explained each step and how to look at what was in front of us to see shadows, etc. I still remember advice he gave me, like “Don’t try to add all of the details. The person looking at your painting will fill it in as they look at it.” I wouldn’t hesitate to take another class from him if I was able to travel to lovely Bergamo again!

Only suggestion: Be prepared to bring your own warm pillow or something to sit on - i got a bit cold from sitting on the floor and the rain didnt help (not the guides fault though, just November weather)

Most Perfect Afternoon - I drew with Martin for an afternoon in Piazza Vechia, Bergamo, no one else had booked on to the session so I got a 1-on-1 2 hour drawing class, I absolutely loved it! Martin is easy company, he has great English and is fab at teaching art! We both drew the same clock tower so he could guide me but we made different stylistic choices so I learnt to create drawings independently rather than copying the whole time. The session helped me find the artist in my soul and I’ve been drawing ever since with feedback from Martin. I really felt he listened to my previous experience of drawing and helped me to develop in the areas I struggle with like trying to draw too neat and perfect which made me very slow before. Bergamo is very pretty and Martin had all the equipment we needed from clipboards to watercolour paints. Thanks Martin!
