• Beppu Ropeway - Experience an ascent of 1300 meters above sea level on Kyushu’s largest Ropeway. The Beppu Ropeway transports visitors to the summit of Mt. Tsurumi, an active volcano and the origin of Beppu Hot Springs, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Beppu and Beppu Bay.
• Mt. Yufu - Standing at 5,195 feet, Mount Yufu is a volcano situated on the border of Yufu and Beppu. It will be visible on the route to Yufuin.
• Sagiridai Observatory - Positioned between Yufuin and Beppu along the Yamanami Highway (Prefectural Route 11), this observatory is part of one of Kyushu’s most picturesque driving routes. It provides a stunning view of the Yufuin Basin from an elevation of 680 meters.
• Yufuin Area - This charming rural Japanese town evokes the feeling of stepping into a beloved Ghibli film. Enjoy the scenic Japanese countryside, wander around creeks, and visit delightful cafes.
• Lake Kinrin - A walk to Lake Kinrin awaits. Nestled beneath Mt. Yufu, the lake was historically known as takemoto-no-ike or “lake under the mountain” by locals. In 1884, it was renamed Kinrin, or “golden scales,” by Mori Kuso, a Confucius scholar, after he observed golden-scaled fish in the waters at sunset.
