Spanning 240 acres, this garden boasts over 1,800 species of plants, shrubs, and trees, acting as the green lungs of Bangalore. Established by the renowned Hyder Ali in 1760, Lalbagh is a significant landmark in Bangalore and hosts the world-famous flower show, making it a must-visit destination. It is not only a horticulturist’s dream but also offers a peaceful escape from the city’s expanding urban landscape.
- Bull Temple - The Bull Temple in Bangalore is dedicated to Nandi Bull, the vehicle of Lord Shiva. Located in Basavanagudi, this temple is built in the Dravidian architectural style. Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bangalore, commissioned the construction of the Bull Temple. It is one of the city’s oldest temples and attracts devotees nationwide. Inside, there is a massive idol of Nandi Bull, standing 4.5 meters tall and 6.5 meters long, carved from a single rock. The bull features a small iron plate on its head, traditionally believed to prevent it from growing.
- Vidhana Soudha and Attara Kacheri - The tour includes a visit to Vidhana Soudha, one of Bangalore’s most iconic buildings and landmarks, housing the Legislative Chambers of the state government. With approximately 300 rooms, it accommodates around 22 state government departments. The building stands at nearly 46 meters tall, making it one of the city’s most impressive structures. As it is a functioning government office, the visit is limited to an external view.
- ISKCON Temple Bangalore - The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded in 1966 in New York City by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Its core beliefs are rooted in select traditional Hindu scriptures, particularly the Bhagavad-gītā and the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. ISKCON aims to promote the practice of bhakti yoga, where participants (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions to pleasing the Supreme Lord, Krishna. The tour includes a visit to the magnificent temple located on a hill.
- Bangalore Palace - After lunch, the tour proceeds to the Bangalore Palace, once home to the Wodeyar Kings of Mysore. This majestic structure, built in Tudor style, features fortified towers, battlements, and turrets. The interiors are regal, with exquisite wood carvings, floral motifs, and relief paintings. With Edwardian and Victorian-themed furniture, Bangalore Palace bears a striking resemblance to England’s Windsor Castle. An audio tour provides detailed insights into the life and times of the Wodeyar Kings and their relationship with the British Empire. On Mondays, when the Palace is closed, the tour will visit Tipu Sultan’s Palace instead.
