⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Powerful, Personal, and Unforgettabl - This was far more than a sightseeing tour — it was a journey through history told by people who lived it.
We were guided on both sides of the wall, each time by a Robert — one from the West, one from the East. Both were exceptional.
Robert (West) shared what daily life was like during “the Troubles,” painting vivid pictures of checkpoints, curfews, and the constant tension that shaped his community. His ability to balance hard truths with moments of humor and resilience made his stories unforgettable.
Robert (East) offered an equally powerful perspective. He spoke openly about what it meant to grow up on the other side of the divide — how ordinary families carried extraordinary burdens, and how those memories still echo today. Hearing his personal experiences gave depth and humanity to events I had only ever read about in books.
What struck me most was how both Roberts, with such different lived experiences, spoke with honesty, dignity, and even hope. Their stories didn’t just explain history — they made us feel it.
If you’re visiting, don’t miss this tour. It’s not just about learning dates and facts — it’s about listening, connecting, and understanding. And if you’re lucky enough to have Robert and Robert as your guides, prepare for a moving experience you’ll carry with you long after the walls are behind you. Go

This tour is essential for anyone who is interested in learning about The Troubles! - I would rate this 10 out of 10 if I could. The Falls Road (Catholic) and the Shankill Road (Protestant) are virtually side by side, separated only by a “Peace Walk”, but are in some ways two different worlds. Both guides (Fred, a former IRA political prisoner and Mark) were equally compelling, honest and raw. Not only is this a “must do” if you are in Belfast, this tour is worth making a special trip to Belfast just to experience!

Belfast Highlight - Very interesting to listen to 2 very different perspectives on the conflicts. It was our favourite activity in Belfast.

Two sides of the conflict - This was the most fascinating walking tour we ever went on and we've been on a lot of them in our life. By the end of the tour, we had a very good picture of the conflict from both sides. Both guides were excellent sharing their passionately held views.

A really thought-provoking afternoon - The tour was everything we had expected and hoped for. We will be thinking and talking about it for a long time. The first half with Jack, presenting the Republican (NOT Catholic) side, was absolutely excellent, especially in the way he explained the background to the troubles and the context in which they took place. He was always going to be a hard act to follow and the Unionist guide, Ian, took a very different approach, focusing mainly on the atrocities committed against his community and their impact, without attempting to address the underlying causes. Perhaps the most surprising thing for me was the extent to which both sides saw the British government - and particularly the monarchy - as pivotal. The Republicans see them as the root cause, the Unionists appear to be far far more monarchist than most people in the mainland UK.
Reassuringly both guides were very clear that things are much much better now and told us about lots of good work going on in their communities; however after hearing Ian’s views I sadly found it hard to agree with Jack’s optimism that a permanent solution is not far away.

Interesting and informative - Very interesting and informative to hear both sides of the conflict. I feel like I could only gain an understanding by hearing both sides. I would recommend that the first tour guide turn up the microphone or speak louder.

A tour that turns upside down - This tour is very informative with two guides one for each side of the wall with two lived experiences and two very different visions of the same events.
It is a visit that does not leave me insensitive I emerged upset by this story that is not mine and these two visions as two sides of the same room so different and yet linked...
I felt revolted by the injustices suffered by some and angry and saddened by these innocent people who died on both sides...

The Troubles conflict - Eye opening tour presented in 2 halves by guides from either side of the "Troubles" conflict. Interesting handover at the gates with little acknowledgement of the guides. A must do tour for all. Highly recommend.

A thought provoking... - A thought provoking insight into "the troubles" and their legacy in the current day.
The first part of the tour was around Falls Road, where our guide, Jack, aimed to justify his Republican views. Whilst being fascinated by what he had to say, it was hard to accept how much he hated us English because of historical events! such views could never be a reason for what happened in the second part of the twentieth century!
Our Unionist guide, Mark, took us along Shankill Road. He focused on how his life had been affected and how childhood friends, both catholic and protestant, had been lost in one way or another.
We were shocked to realise that the gates in the "Peace Wall", which separates the two districts, are still locked every night at 8pm. Surely, the lack of connectivity between the two groups hinders the chance of lasting peace 😢
