Fascinating Insight into Belfast's Recent History - Our guide Marty was superb. Extremely knowledgeable and was happy to answer every question thrown his way. A lot of information to take in but it gave us a better understanding of the conflict and reasons behind it.

Nuanced and forward-looking guide to Belfast - What a great guide Marti was - it's a totally different experience seeing the area on foot over a few hours with a lifelong local. We were not rushed and could really take things in with a small group. Marti is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Belfast, and I appreciated that his tour did not traffic in the easy spectacle of violence; instead, he took a more nuanced approach that spoke to the desires of the majority in this wonderful city to hold onto peace for all it's worth.

Brilliant and thought-provoking - My daughter and I had a brilliant afternoon with Marti, who really took the time to bring the detail of the history of Northern Ireland to life, through a series of engaging stories, interwoven with stops carefully chosen to also showcase the vibrant local visual arts scene. Marti takes an unflinching but also compassionate look at the history of Belfast, with an emphasis on the importance of building bridges across communities and championing creative opportunities for people to tell their own stories of what it has meant to live and grow up here over the past six decades. I felt we learned so much more with Marti than we would have on any other tour of the political murals in these neighbourhoods - highly recommended!

Great Tour, great guide! - We really enjoyed our walking tour, Marti is a great guide! He explained the history behind the troubles at the start of the walk giving us a good insight into more recent events. We felt that he gave a very balanced view and was keen to stress that the majority of people are keen to work towards a more harmonious way of living. Being on foot (rather than in a cab) to see the murals certainly gave us a better feel of the area. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Excellent unique tour - Found Marti through trip advisor. His 3 hour walking tour is very personal and unbiased focusing on a theme of peace and reconciliation. Marti is local and honest, passionate about spreading the peaceful community message emerging from new Belfast. Very interesting explanations of murals and events and open to questions from interested visitors. Highly recommended but leave your pre-conceived thoughts at home and be receptive to Marti’s wise words.

Do not miss out on this excellent tour - We had an educating time on our tour. Despite rain we still made it around the entire city learning about the experiences of the communities through their art. Marti placed such an amazing emphasis on peace throughout the tour, and something that impacted us the most was his remark that it takes three generations to overcome trauma. You can see that the trauma of past generations still exists in Belfast, but through these murals and peace efforts of people like Marti the journey to recovery is just as evident. Don't miss this tour on your trip to Belfast!
