- Simatai Great Wall - Begin your visit at the Simatai Great Wall, a section that embodies the unique characteristics of the Great Wall’s various segments. A Great Wall expert once remarked, “The Great Wall is the pinnacle of China’s attractions, with Simatai being the crown jewel.” Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site, the Simatai Great Wall is a must-see. We suggest taking an electric rickshaw to the base of the Simatai Great Wall, followed by a cable car ascent. Enjoy approximately two hours of hiking along the wall before descending via cable car.
- Gubei Water Town - Spanning 10 square kilometers, Gubei Water Town encompasses a scenic resort area of 450,000 square meters, featuring traditional Ming and Qing dynasty-style courtyards, two five-star hotels, seven boutique hotels, and a plethora of restaurants and shops. Additionally, there are over nine cultural exhibition areas equipped with excellent facilities. For lunch, which is at your own expense, you may pack a meal to enjoy as you explore the town or choose from the various dining options available within the town itself.
- Beijing - Upon completing your self-guided excursion, your driver will escort you back to your hotel. If you prefer to have dinner in downtown Beijing, the driver can drop you off at a restaurant of your choice instead of your hotel.

Gubei, Winter. - Gubei was a beautiful town. Whole family enjoyed the trip. Very cold this time of year though. Jack was our driver; his helpfulness and positive attitude made our trip even better.

Great experience! - We signed up for our 2nd day trip with Leo's tour agency, and Andrew was assigned to send us to Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall. Andrew was friendly with an easygoing personality. He was punctual, and the car was in excellent condition. The 2-hour ride to Gubei was smooth and pleasant.
Andrew answered our questions on Gubei and Simatai patiently and guided us to the ticketing counter and then to the entrance of Gubei.
Gubei Water Town was as Andrew described, with many little shops, eateries, and olden days architecture. We had a nice walk around before taking the cableway to the entrance of Simatai Great Wall.
The surrounding view from the Great Wall was simply breathtaking! We took many memorable pictures.
We had dumplings for lunch at Gubei before meeting up with Andrew for our journey back to the hotel.
Many thanks to Leo and Andrew for making the trip a once in a lifetime experience. So glad we signed up with you.

Gubei Water Town Experience - My driver Ken from Leo’s private tour was wonderful and helped provide us with an unforgettable experience at Gubei water town. He was very flexible and allowed us to extend our journey to ensure we received more time at Gubei water town and provided my partner with soothing balm for mosquito bites he received during the day. Ken was also very knowledgeable about Beijing and provided us with many recommendations for the rest of our stay. Gubei water town and Simatai Great Wall were absolutely breathtaking and worth the 2hr drive out of central Beijing. There are many delicious street food stalls, interesting cultural performances and souvenir stalls. It is also not very crowded, making for a peaceful experience. We had an amazing time. Thank you Ken and Leo.

Superb Day Trip from Beijing - We went on this day trip tour. Our guide Peter was prompt in picking us up from the hotel. His service was impeccable and he was polite, patient and very communicative. The tour is highly recommended especially for the Simatai great wall climb.

Good day trip and guide - Great day trip from Beijing to cover the Simatai Great Wall and Gubei Water Town, and the driver Peter Wu was very helpful and accommodating. One thing to note (which wasn't clear at the time I booked) is that entry fees aren't included in the price, so budget an additional CNY 300 per person

Day Trip to Simatai Great Wall and Gubei Water Town - Truly magnificient, although challenging climbing up the rugged terrain of Simatai Great Wall. Also, enjoy walking the scenic Gubei Water Town. Highly recommend to stay a night to see the light up of the Great Wall and Gubei Water Town.
Peter Wu, the driver, provided 5 stars services. He picks us from our hotel on time, helped us to purchase the entrance and cable car tickets, shared some insight of the Great Wall, and had waited patiently for us to complete our free and easy tour with no rush. Peter also recommended us a lunch place inside the Gubei Water Town to taste the local fresh water fish, which is super.
Shout out to Peter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great trip - We did the Simatai - Gubei Water town trip with our driver Lily. She was right on time at the hotel and throughout the trip she was kind and enthusiastic, dropped us of right in front of the gate. Good service, would definately contact Leo’s again for future trips.

Outstanding Tour & Great Service from everyone - We have been to 3 other sections of the Great Wall and we highly recommend this trip for families & couples because your access to the wall is right from the water town. The water town is very quaint & beautiful itself, with 5 star lodging, restaurants, shopping and activities. The amenities provided in the town, makes the trip to see the wall a lot easier for families with kids, couples wanting a romantic trip, or older people needing a bit more comfort.
This section of the wall is very picturesque, views of the wall go on & on, walking is very steep and doable for folks who are fit, otherwise take the cable car and take water with you.
Leo’s Tour was great, the staff is very responsive, accommodating to your special requests and very informative.
Mr. Ma was our tour guide and driver. He was excellent- try to book him if you can. He is a safe driver, provided us with water, was very informative, handled everything for us and made sure we had a great trip. He also takes great pictures, which he shared with us to make it more memorable.
We will go back again and. Book again with Leo’s your and request Mr Ma as our guide.

Great tour company - We used Leo’s tour for two days. The first day was Simatai Great Wall with English driver. The second day was Forbidden city and Summer palace with tour guide. Both the driver and tour guide are very professional and friendly. They tried their best to accommodate our needs. We’re really enjoyed both days. Highly recommend.

Great town at the base of the wall. - The tour guide will drive you from the town and help you buy your tickets 1) to the town 2) a one-way bus trip to the wall (you walk back through the town) and 3) to the chairlift. It was around 600 Yuan for myself and senior father for those three things.
Attended on a weekend before the spring festival and the town was sleepy which meant no crowds and lots of chances to take photos with amazing backdrops. On the flip side, most stores/restaurants were not open before 2pm. From what I gathered, this place 'comes alive' in the evening.
As for the wall itself, the chairlift brings you up mostly to the top. You still have 15-20 mins of a steep stairs climb to the wall and then the time you spend on the wall itself will depend on the time you want to dedicate there vs. the town, your legs, and your fear of wind/heights. The stairs are uneven and will take some agility to get from one tower to the next, especially the ones with a ladder.
