The tour starts with a 2-hour drive to the Great Wall at Gubeikou. Located along the Yanshan Mountain range in the northeast of Miyun County, about 140km from downtown Beijing, the Gubeikou Great Wall was built during the Qi dynasty (AD 555) and is the oldest Great Wall in Beijing, standing for 1460 years.
The Great Wall holds a strategically important position, serving as the bastion protecting the northern gateway to the capital. Gubeikou Great Wall consists of two sections: Wohushan Great Wall and Panlongshan Great Wall. The walls retain their original bricks and stones, remaining well-preserved and unrestored.
Guests will follow the guide to start their hiking experience from the Panlongshan Great Wall. Situated between Wohushan Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall, Panlongshan Great Wall spans about 5 km and has witnessed many historical wars. This section features more than 40 watch towers, and guests will have 2-3 hours of hiking time.
After enjoying an authentic Chinese lunch, the hike continues on Wohushan Great Wall.
Wohushan Great Wall, located in the western part of the Gubeikou Great Wall System, stands at an altitude of 665 meters. The steep geography of this section gives it the shape of two tigers, hence the name “Wohu,” meaning crouching tigers. Known for its precipitous geography, this section of the Wall has not been renovated for hundreds of years, making it one of the most representative areas for appreciating the original Great Wall architectural art.
Once the tour is finished, guests will be transferred back to their hotel in Beijing.
