During the Liao and Kin dynasties many Buddhist temples were built here. The pagoda forest was actually the cemetery of the monks of the temple. Today seven pagodas still stand, five built during the Kin Dynasty and two during the Yuan Dynasty.

Good tour and guide - This was a very good tour, and well worth doing. This section of the Great Wall is less popular than some others because it's further from Beijing, but is a great way to experience it without the crowds. The Pagoda Forest is also worth the visit. Lili was an excellent guide.
