A must-do whilst in Beijing - Angel and our driver, Mr Yang, made our day really worthwhile and enjoyable. If we had visited these places wjth no guide, we would not have known the symbolisms of most of what we saw in these places.

Tour of major culutre sites. - We had an amazing tour with a fantastic tour guide. She told us great stories and we learned so much about the history. Highly recommend!

Forbidden City Tiananmen Square Tour - We had a most splendid wonderful tour of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square and I highly recommend this tour. But the success and pleasure of this tour was made possible only by a very good and detail tour guide. Our guide - May Wang did a spectacular job in explaining the history-story of the sites keeping us so interested. This is not to mention also how kind her pace was, giving us time enough to enjoy and see all.

Great experience - Peter was a perfect guide. His English was excellent and he could explain us a lot of interesting things about Tiananmen, the Forbidden city and the Summer Palast. More over he was very friendly and we had a tasty lunch with him. We can recommend him by 100%.

Fabulous Three-Day Private Tour with Peter! - In Summary: I highly recommend Catherine Lu Tours to anyone planning to visit Beijing! My wife and I had a fantastic experience using Catherine Lu Tours during our visit to Beijing (26 May to 28 May 2024). Peter, our tour guide, was fabulous and made the tour experience so much better and more enriching than we could have imagined (more on the details below). Making the Arrangements: We chose the three day “tailor-made” experience because we knew the things we really wanted to see and experience, and this gave us the opportunity to do them all in a very busy three days. Developing the itinerary and prepaying was all very easy, working with a coordinator online before we travelled. We were even able to have Catherine Lu Tours make the reservations and prepay our entry fees for the sites we visited, which made the site visits very easy for entry on the appointed days. Peter Our Tour Guide: Peter was fabulous in every way. He is proficient in English and also majored in history and was SO VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about the history of China and imparting knowledge on us about each of the sites we visited. He answered all of our questions with skill and detail, but also shared fascinating information about things we never would have thought to ask about. Peter is well-read on history but was equally knowledgeable about Chinese culture and was masterful at embedding these elements into his historical explanations (e.g, the role of feng Shui in so many of the sites we visited and the role of numbers in many designs/decisions). Each Catherine Lu tour includes a lunch at a restaurant selected by the tour guide. On each of our three days, Peter took us to restaurants with wonderful foods that not only gave us nourishment but also taught us about the “table culture” of China and the varieties of delicious foods consumed by “Beijingers” and their neighbors in the immediate north. Important to note that, in addition to being knowledgeable and a great teacher, Peter is highly personable, charismatic, enthusiastic and has a wonderful sense of humor. Lastly, we need to mention that Peter was very agile and flexible about the itinerary; helping us to make adjustments to sites and visit parts of sites that met our personal desire to get a better feel for the people and culture of Beijing. The Private Car and Driver: We never thought we would be commenting on the transportation as part of a tour review, but we found the driver (Mr. Lu) to be so very personable and friendly, going out of his way to keep us feeling welcome, informed and even well fed during one of the lunches he joined. The partnership and communication between Peter and the drivers was seamless and led to perfection in coordinating all pick up times/locations. The car itself was clean and comfortable.

Guided tour of Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City and Summer Palace. - The Tour today was wonderful. Angel made the experience much better. She was able to share the history with each place so that at the end, it was a historical story, that was entertaining and also informative. It was a beautiful day. Thank you for the enchanting experience. I highly recommend letting Angel help bring history to life as you enjoy the sites.

Tour of Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & The Summer Palace - Our tour guide Angela took me & my partner on a tour of Tiananmen Sq, The Forbidden City & The Summer Palace. Angela was very professional; picked us up at our hotel on the appointed time and started by giving us a brief review of all 3 destinations & a history of the city of Beijing . Her knowledge of all the destinations were impeccable. She has intricate details as to how & why the buildings were constructed & the significance of their locations & structures. Many of the details she told us were revelations you won’t read in any books or magazines. She then took us to a lovely lunch & then guided us for an unbelievable tour of The Summer Palace. We leant so much during the tour that we basically developed a slightly different perspective of this great city and its history. We highly recommend all visitors to Beijing to do the tour. Unforgettable moments with the best guild - Wow, what an experience. We had the chance to have a private tour with Angel. We visited the Temple of heaven, the forbidden city & the summer palace. She was deifinitely one of the best guide we’ve ever had - she knows a lot about history and gave us so much interesting facts while guiding us through these huge monuments. We also had a traditional lunch together - and not only the food was good but also the talk we had with Angel. we really learned a lot from chinese history & culture.
