Great way to explore the local markets - Had a great time exploring the markets in Beijing. Very interesting to see local goods and unique items we never knew about. Our tour guide, Lucy, was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of insight, not just about the items at the markets, but about Beijing and Chinese culture as well. Learned a lot! By the end of the day, we felt like we made a great friend. Would definitely recommend

Great tour with Lynda - Very convenient for a 1 day stopover. No hiccups, smoothly transferred from the hotel to the antiques market and Pearl market. Lynda guided us towards what we wanted to see, saves time. She also helped negotiate a deal. On the way she told us about Beijing history and architecture. Overall very pleasant experience! Julia

Wonderful Tour - I would really recommend this tour for anyone who is a bit daunted by visiting markets in Beijing on their own. Our guide Lisa was excellent, guiding my husband and I through the markets and giving us info on all the types of produce and wares. It was so interesting and we felt at ease with Lisa by our side. We really enjoyed the tea Tasting and didn't realise there were so many beautiful flavours of tea. A bonus also for us was seeing some chinese dragon dancing in the Market, which we had time to watch for a while. Thank you so much again Lisa for such an enjoyable experience.

Wonderful - I had a wonderful experience with Lisa today. I don't think there is any way I could have navigated the markets without her because I am not a bargainer. She made everything very comfortable and it was like hanging out with a friend all while getting the best deals I could possibly have gotten. Our first stop was an open air market that had stones, bracelets, paintings, necklaces, 'antiques' and other souvenir knick knacks. I absolutely loved it and probably couldn't have found it without her. Our second stop with the Pearl Street Market where we had a lovely tea tasting where I had some of the best tea I've ever had. Then we wondered around the market and she helped me with the quality of products as well as negotiate price. I don't think I would have ever been able to get the prices that she got because I am not a negotiator. Today was a wonderful experience and I couldn't have done it without Lisa

Good intro to Beijing and the local markets - Sally was a great guide to give us an overview of Beijing and history before we hit the local market. There were two markets and the first was our favourite as it was local, no other tourists and very different products on show for sale. The tea ceremony was also enjoyable. Sally was able to help us with buying a Gluten Free Lunch which was a great help.

Personal market tour with local knowledge - Totally recommend this tour! Our tour guide, Linda was fantastic. She organised the tour according to what we wanted. She knows what antiques or jade are bad quality and did all the bargaining for us. Also important was she had no hidden agenda, ie didn’t steer us towards shops where she got commission. The tea tasting was a great experience. Just like going on a day out with your best friend from the moment you meet her!

Private Markets and Tea Tasting tour - This was great fun! Our guide, Lisa, was exceptional, and taught us a lot about the haggling process as she got us some great deals, but also let us know when a price was already good, and we could just go ahead and pay it. She paid attention to our stated interests, and did not pressure us in the least to go particular places or make particular purchases. She also took into consideration my walking limitations. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to shop for souvenirs, art, odds and ends... anything!

Lily took us on this tour and it is... -
Lily took us on this tour and it is with her expertise and guidance that it was a magnificent day. The Beijing markets have something for everyone. We began with the Flea Market. We highly recommend this area as a place to buy original art work. We bought a piece that is about 2 feet by 4 feet on rice paper. The cost was about 35. It is gorgeous.

The shopping center is set up on floors with varying quality. If you are looking to buy pearls, be sure to go to the fourth floor. There is a shop there where state official have purchased their peals. Their photos are all over the walls, so you cannot miss it. This is also a great place for souvenirs. We had tea in the mall and learned about all the different kinds of teas, the difference in their taste and fermenting options.

Again, Lily was key to making this a great day. She has a gentle personality, exquisite English with a lovely lilting voice that you can listen to all day.
