Thank you Luis and Great Wall Hiking! - What an amazing experience. We did the 4-day hiking tour, visiting different sections of the wall each day, which had unique characteristics. Very cool historical exploration with beautiful views and scenery! The highlight of our trip was our experience with our guide, Luis (best tour guide ever). He was extremely knowledgeable about everything relating to the Great Wall and everything else regarding Chinese history. While we were on and off the wall, Luis' insights into China were extremely interesting and insightful. The food and accommodation throughout the trip were also satisfactory. There wasn't a single dish we did not like! We particularly enjoyed our stay at the local. farmer's house, which was in a very scenic area. This was an amazing experience. Thank you Luis!

Highlight of our trip to China - Our two day hike on the Great Wall was the highlight of our trip to China, Luis was a knowledgeable, thoughtful and fun guide who made the experience extra enjoyable. We loved the fact that the tour responded to our needs and expectations and was adjusted to suit our fitness and fast walking pace. It was amazing to be able to experience the Wall with very few other tourists. A highly recommended experience!

Incredible Experience! - What an incredible experience! Truly one of the most amazing places I've been to. Hiking on the unrestored sections of the Wall was like something out of a movie. Highly recommend people to join this tour. The guides and hosts at the guesthouse were really great! I don't review things often but this was worth leaving one! Thanks again.

Great tour on amazing parts of the wall - The tour was a great experience. Our guide Cheney was very helpful and an experienced expert for the different parts of the Great Wall. Jinshanling and Gubeiko are different, but both very attractive. And camping with the sunset and the sunrise was another highlight. Only a few people around us during the hike, amazing views and a great service from the beginning to the end.

Happy that we did this tour - It was a great trip. The Jinshanling & Gubeikou sections of the wall are both beautiful and different from another, which makes the trip very interesting. The walk is not very far, but in the hot sun it can be demanding. Luckily we had Cheney as our guide, who provided lots of water and tells about the history of the wall with a lot of enthusiasm. The guesthouse in Gubeikou town is a very fine place, where we were welcomed by a very friendly couple. Deliscious food is provided. If you want to visit the great wall, without too many crowds, this is the place to go.

Excellent 2 days on 2 differrent Great Wall sections. - I had a great time on a 2 day private trip organized by Great Wall Hiking with one day on the more restored Jinshanling section and the second day on the relatively unrestored Gubeikou section. I am really glad I did both as they were each terrific in their own way. My guide Luis was dependable, expedrienced and knowlegable about the Great Wall and Chinese history. and All aspects of the trip were well-organized and the meals were very tasty. Highly recommended!

Jinshanling and Gubeikou, a different experience than Badaling, well worth the extra drive - My husband and I signed up for the two day private hike. We paid a small deposit up front. Then our awesome English-speaking guide, Luis, and his driver, picked us up in our hotel in Beijing and we paid the balance in cash and alipay to him. We drove to the Jinshanling area first, stopping off at what turned out to be our bed and breakfast on the way to pick up our sack lunch. Our driver left us and we walked up something like 1600 steps to get to the Wall. The views the first day were nothing short of spectacular. The watchtowers were very close together and the terrain often steep. I was glad I wore my hiking boots and that we weren't attempting this hike in the middle of the summer. Although not crowded, the Jinshanling area did have some people hiking on it and ladies hawking gatorade and t-shirts in several of the watch towers. Several of the ladies were fairly aggressive. We had water and a sack lunch provided for us by Luis. Lunch was edible. Luis told us after lunch that our hike would be cut a little shorter that day, due to some restoration work, which was fine with us. We walked off the wall and to where our driver was waiting for us, and drove to our bed and breakfast, and were probably there by like 3:00 or 3:30. We checked into our room, had a short rest, and then met our guide for our dumpling-making class, taught by our hosts. That was fun and our dinner with local dishes was great. Our room was clean and had air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a television set. The next morning we had a western-style breakfast about 7:30 and our driver drove us to the Gubeikou area. We took a trail up to the Wall and this day walked along a more wild, original, and untouched portion of the Great Wall. On our second day, we saw 14 hikers the entire day, and there were no ladies selling Gatorade and souvenirs. It was different than the first day, but equally as beautiful. We finished shortly after noon and hiked down off the Wall, where our driver was waiting for us. We were given "completion certificates" and were driven to a local restaurant where we had more local food. We then drove back to Beijing, stopping for a short time to see the Olympic venues in the northern part of the city. All in all, a really lovely time with a really lovely guide.
