Cuandixia Village - En route to the village, you’ll be treated to picturesque views of mountains and rural landscapes. Cuandixia Village is home to about 70 traditional courtyard dwellings that ascend a hillside, established over 400 years ago by settlers from Shanxi province. Throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties, the village was situated along a crucial mountain pass to Hebei and Shanxi, serving as a hub for merchants. The villagers would host wayfarers, catering to the needs of traders. As modern transportation infrastructure developed, Cuandixia’s significance waned and it became a relic of the past.
Lunch at a local family-run eatery will give you a taste of genuine rural cuisine (note that the cost of lunch is not included). - Beijing - Should you opt to skip lunch, you will be driven back to your hotel, a journey that should take around 2.5 hours, assuming there are no major traffic delays.

Wonderful day - Had a wonderful time here with private tour guide Peter who knew where to go to take photos of the village from higher elevation areas. Many of the homes have been completely preserved so it was a very unique experience to see how life was back then, almost like stepping back in time. One of the highlights from the day was the wonderful restaurant we went to which served some absolutely delicious dishes in a sort of secluded and cozy small courtyard setting, very nice warm feeling. Peter is a very kind and wise person and is the most skilled tour guide I have ever met in China at taking great looking photos of people, would definitely highly recommend him as a tour guide for this place!

amazing tour and outstanding driver - peter was our driver today, we definitely had a great time today because of him. as well as being a great driver, he live translated stuff for us and took lots of pictures without us having to ask. he was very warm and polite, and he seemed to be having as much fun as us which was a great vibe. cuandixia itself also exceeded our expectations, peter helped us get lunch and showed us around, everyone was so friendly
