- Cuandixia Village - Located on an ancient post road about 55 miles northwest of central Beijing in the Jingxi mountain region, Cuandixia Village offers beautiful mountain and countryside scenery on the way. The village features around 70 courtyard homes that gently ascend a mountain slope, built by a family who migrated from Shanxi province over 400 years ago. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the road through the mountains to Hebei and Shanxi provinces served as a trade route. The residents of Cuandixia would open their doors to travelers and cater to the passing trade. Over time, the village was forgotten as expressways and train tracks altered the route to the west. Lunch (at your own expense) will be at a local family restaurant where you can enjoy authentic countryside-style food.
