• Batu Caves - Nestled in a limestone hill, Batu Caves is a captivating cave temple. It features three large caves, with the main cave housing elaborate Hindu shrines. A highlight of visiting is climbing the 272 steps to the temple.

• Petronas Twin Towers - Standing at 451.9m, the iconic Petronas Twin Towers symbolize modern Malaysia. They are the centerpiece of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) development, which includes landmarks like the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Suria KLCC shopping mall, luxury hotels, a mosque, and the beautifully landscaped KLCC Park. Inside, the deities of the Hindu goddess Maha Mariamman are embellished with gold and precious stones. The temple’s surroundings are filled with the sights and sounds of peddlers selling jasmine garlands and aromatic incense.
• Menara Kuala Lumpur - Rising majestically at 421 meters atop Bukit Nanas, KL Tower is a prominent feature of the city’s skyline. Its architecture reflects Islamic heritage, with Arabic scripts, Islamic tiles, classic floral and abstract motifs, and soothing color combinations.
• Royal Selangor Visitor Centre - The visitor center offers a journey through over a century of Royal Selangor’s history and its connection to Malaysia. Complimentary guided tours reveal the development of tin mining in the Malay Peninsula in the 1800s and showcase traditional pewtersmithing tools, antique pewter, and ancient tin currency at the pewter museum.
• East Coast Batik Sdn Bhd (Batik CHONG) - Established in 1974, East Coast Batik is one of the oldest batik and handicrafts centers in Klang Valley. The gallery offers insights into batik, showcasing it as more than just elaborately designed cloth. Syarika East Coast provides a holistic experience in Malaysian batik and handicrafts.
• Istana Negara - The National Palace, or Istana Negara, is the official residence of the King of Malaysia. Located on Jalan Duta, it became the National Palace in November 2011, replacing the old palace on Jalan Istana. The palace features 22 domes, with the largest reaching 40 meters. Note: Visits are limited to the exterior.
• National Monument - Built to honor those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom, especially during the fight against communism, the National Monument features one of the world’s largest free-standing bronze sculptures. Created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, who also sculpted the famous Iwo Jima monument in Washington DC.
• Merdeka Square - On August 31, 1957, the Union Jack was lowered at Dataran Merdeka, marking Malaysia’s independence from colonial rule. Known as Independence Square, it was once the site for parades, cricket matches, and significant events. Today, it is preserved with manicured lawns, terraces, and a fountain. Adjacent to the square is the Royal Selangor Club, a mock-Tudor building with a rich history. The 100m high flagpole at Dataran Merdeka is one of the tallest in the world.
• Kuala Lumpur City Gallery - Founded in 1989, KL City Gallery occupies a building with a varied history, including use by the Ministry of Labour and Postal Authorities. It features two floors of exhibition space, a cafe, a museum shop, and serves as a tourist information center.
• Sultan Abdul Samad Building - A prominent landmark in KL, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, built in 1897, is named after the then-reigning monarch. It served as a government administrative building during the British era. Constructed entirely of brick, it showcases Mahometan or Neo-Saracenic architecture with a grand porch, arches, copper domes, and a 41.2m high clock tower. The building houses a Tourist Information Centre. Kuala Lumpur’s origins trace back to a mining outpost for the tin trade in the 1800s.
• KLCC Park - KLCC Park is an urban park in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, designed to provide greenery to the Petronas Twin Towers and surrounding areas.
• National Mosque (Masjid Negara) - One of the city’s most distinguished landmarks, Masjid Negara features a unique star-shaped dome and a 73m high minaret. Located near the KL Lake Gardens, visitors are advised to dress appropriately, with women required to wear headscarves. The Islamic Arts Centre, overlooking the mosque, is also worth a visit.
