METROPOLIS.. Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, is known for its modern cityscape, dominated by the 451m high Petronas Twin Towers. These skyscrapers, sheathed in glass and steel and featuring Islamic designs, also provide a public skybridge and an observation deck for visitors to admire. The city also preserves British colonial-era architecture, including the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
RURAL AREA.. On the outskirts of the city of Kuala Lumpur is Batu Caves, a Hindu temple nestled within 400 million-year-old limestone caves. A flight of 272 steps leads to the main cave temple’s peak. Batu Caves is composed of three large caves and houses the tallest statue of Lord Muruga in the world, towering at 42.7m (130 feet). This spot draws a massive gathering during Thaipusam, an annual Indian festival devoted to Lord Muruga, typically held in January or February.
