- St Mary the Virgin Church - Established by the Abbey monks in 1102, this church is a stop on the tour. Visitors will explore the interior unless a service is underway.
- Battle Abbey and Battlefield - Within the abbey, there will be an opportunity for an optional restroom and refreshment break (additional cost). The tour proceeds to the ridge believed to be where Harold’s shield wall was positioned. Participants will walk the battlefield’s perimeter, learning about the events of 1066 and the battle strategies employed by both sides. The tour concludes with a visit to the site where Harold fell and the Abbey ruins.

This tour provides a private guide who is a local historian throughout the experience. Participants will discover the entire narrative of the 1066 conflict, including the reasons behind the disputed succession, the invasions by Harald Hardrada and William of Normandy, and comprehensive details of the Battle of Hastings. This includes insights into battle strategies, the weapons used, and the armor worn.
Visitors will stand at the recognized location of the Saxon shield wall and walk around the battlefield’s perimeter before seeing the spot where Harold fell.
Additionally, participants will learn about the events that unfolded in the days and months following the battle, leading up to William’s coronation as King on December 25th, 1066.
