Setting Sail to Nevis

The Caribbean has always been my playground, and this time, I decided to explore the island of Nevis with the See it all island tour. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean, and the idea of hopping on a boat to discover a new island was too tempting to resist. The day started with a friendly WhatsApp message from Khalid, our guide, who was on his way to pick us up from the hotel. His warm welcome set the tone for the day, and as we drove to the marina, he pointed out some local landmarks, including the house of Robert Redford and the stunning beaches that lined our route.

The boat taxi ride to Nevis was a breezy seven minutes, with the sun kissing our skin and the gentle Caribbean waves lapping against the hull. The boat was clean and comfortable, and we were offered bottled water to keep us refreshed. As we approached Nevis, I felt a familiar thrill, the same one I get when I’m about to catch a perfect wave. Nallyia, our guide on Nevis, was waiting for us with a smile, ready to show us her island.

Exploring Nevis with a Local

Nallyia’s van was a cool oasis from the tropical heat, and as we set off on our tour, she shared stories and insights about Nevis that only a local could know. The tour was private, just my partner and me, which made it feel like a personal adventure rather than a scheduled tour. We visited the Alexander Hamilton Museum, where I learned about the life of one of America’s founding fathers, who was born right here in Charlestown, Nevis.

The highlight for me was the Nevis Hot Springs, a natural wonder that offered a relaxing soak in mineral-rich waters. It was a perfect way to unwind and connect with the island’s natural beauty. We also wandered through the Botanical Gardens of Nevis, a lush paradise filled with tropical plants and vibrant flowers. The gardens were a feast for the senses, with the scent of blooming orchids and the sound of cascading water creating a serene atmosphere.

A Perfect Ending at Pinney’s Beach

Our tour concluded at Pinney’s Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The golden sands and turquoise waters were inviting, and we couldn’t resist dipping our feet in the ocean. As a surfer, I’m always drawn to the water, and even though the waves were gentle, the beach had a charm that was hard to resist.

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch by the beach, savoring local flavors and soaking in the laid-back island vibe. Nallyia ensured we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery before guiding us back to the marina. Her professionalism and warmth made the tour feel like a day spent with a friend, and as we boarded the boat back to St. Kitts, I felt grateful for the experience.

The See it all island tour was more than just a tour; it was an immersion into the heart of Nevis, guided by locals who shared their love for their island. It’s an adventure I’d recommend to anyone looking to experience the Caribbean beyond the beaches, and one that I’ll cherish as part of my island-hopping adventures.
