Sailing, Snorkeling, and Sunshine: A Perfect Day in St. Kitts & Nevis
When the opportunity arose to sail between St. Kitts and Nevis on a catamaran, I couldn’t resist the call of the sea. With promises of snorkeling, beach time, and the famous Killer Bee cocktails, this adventure was too tempting to pass up.
Setting Sail on the Swaliga
The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to Port Zante Marina, the starting point for what promised to be an unforgettable day on the water. The 65-foot catamaran, Swaliga, awaited us with its sleek design and spacious deck, ready to whisk us away on a journey between the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours on the ocean, but there’s something uniquely thrilling about setting sail on a catamaran, feeling the wind in your hair and the salt spray on your skin.
Captain Phil and his crew greeted us with warm smiles and an infectious energy that set the tone for the day. With a maximum of 40 guests, the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, allowing everyone to find their perfect spot on deck to soak in the open-air views. As we cruised along the coastline, the music played softly in the background, creating a laid-back vibe that perfectly matched the stunning Caribbean scenery.
Snorkeling and Sunshine’s
Our first stop was a sheltered snorkel site, where the clear Caribbean waters beckoned us to dive in and explore the vibrant underwater world. Equipped with snorkeling gear, I joined the group in the water, eager to see what marine wonders awaited us. Having a snorkeling guide in the water was a game-changer, as they pointed out sea life that I would have completely missed on my own, including graceful stingrays gliding along the ocean floor.
Back on board, we were treated to a freshly prepared lunch that was both delicious and satisfying. There’s something about enjoying a meal on the open sea that makes the flavors come alive, and this lunch was no exception. With our appetites sated, we continued our journey to Nevis, where we made a stop at Sunshine’s, a beach bar known for its famous Killer Bee cocktails. It was my second visit to this lively spot, and the Caribbean energy was as vibrant as ever. The Killer Bees lived up to their reputation, providing a sweet and potent kick that perfectly complemented the sun-soaked beach vibes.
Dancing on the Deck
As the day began to wind down, we set sail for the return journey to St. Kitts. But the adventure was far from over. The crew cranked up the music, and soon the entire deck transformed into a floating dance floor. With the turquoise waters stretching out in every direction, it felt like a scene straight out of a movie. Everyone was dancing, laughing, and soaking in the pure joy of the moment.
The camaraderie on board was palpable, with Captain Phil and his crew making sure everyone felt like part of one big happy family. It was the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and pure fun, creating memories that will last a lifetime. As we sailed back into port, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a magical day on the water.
For anyone looking to explore the beauty of St. Kitts and Nevis, I can’t recommend the Sailing Adventure enough. It’s a day filled with laughter, adventure, and the kind of carefree joy that only the Caribbean can offer. Until next time, keep riding those waves and chasing the sun!
