Our walking tours let you bypass ordinary historical trips and explore the city from a resident’s point of view. Take part in a journey that emphasizes the people you encounter just as much as the sights you admire. Our local guides, called Lokafyers, have a deep connection to their city and look forward to sharing their insights. Lokafyers aren’t professional tour guides and host tours sporadically, offering an experience that’s genuine and personal, as if a friend is giving you a city tour. By the time the tour concludes, you’ll be adept at navigating the city, equipped with all the necessary information to fully enjoy your visit.
- Lokafy tours provide a general overview of the city with practical information from a local’s perspective, not detailed historical facts
- In case travellers would like to include a visit to an attraction, they would need to cover the cost of entrance for themselves and also the Lokafyer (local guide)
- Tours are entirely personalized, please provide the start time, meeting place and information about you so that we can organize the tour
- This is a walking tour. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
- Children below 3 years old are free of charge

Great tour w attention paid to details - Really enjoyed Alina’s tour and sharing her knowledge of Basel. She included key attractions and pointed out really interesting details of the buildings that I would’ve missed. A great overview of Basel for a quick tour :). Thank you Alina!

Great Basel Tour - We travel alot and this tour was both very personalized and informative. Alina spent extra time making sure we were satisifed and even stayed and had lunch with us. Definately a5 star tour.

Great tour of beautiful Basel! - Paired with college student Alistair. He was great! Loved seeing all of the main attractions. He was informative and prepared us well for our sightseeing on our own the next day.

Old Town by Alistair - Alistair took us to all the major old town sites as we had asked. He also met us at our hotel which we really appreciated since we didn’t know the city. But we helped a little by staying at the heart of old town in Hotel Basel. It was pouring rain, but Alistair just kept showing us what we wanted to see, good sport!

Great introduction to Basel - We really enjoyed our time with Francis. (I think first name, could be last) She was prepared, friendly and was open to talking about everyday life in Switzerland. We covered a lot of ground in 2 hours and felt we got to know the city a little. Very happy with the tour!

not worth the money! - the guide knew very little about Basel and did not take us to where we asked to go ie: chocolate shop. She was also very expensive.

Not recommended - Good experience of a walk with a lovely person, however this should be priced in a very different way. A walk is easy as one doesn't have to follow Google, but it is not difficult to find a simple path around a small city. The level of knowledge of the person with you on the tour is akin to a tourist who read a couple of sentences about the city ('this was built a long time ago by someone important, but I wasnt born here so I don't know', 'there are a lot of fountains'). Level of the person engagement is low so if you don't ask something, there is not much to tell. Overall, for the price paid, I was expecting a much for engaged knowledgeable guide. Again, a lovely tour to save planning a simple itinerary but not worth the money.

Very Poor Tour--Worst Experience - Horrible experience. The guide didn't provide any information on what was requested prior to my tour/trip. Also, the guide asked where my husband was because he was on the list. I only paid for 1 of us, so this added to more confusion. Very poor tour. Little knowledge and was a waste of my time. This tour shouldn't be offered to any tourists who are coming to Basel. Alina was of very little help and didn't offer a "redo" until the end of my tour--asking if I wanted to return the next day. I hope to receive a refund or partial refund for this poor service. Terrible tour!
