Highlights
  • 5VH9+25 Barrière - During your forest immersion walk you will first take a moment to slow down while your guide shares information on the process and some interesting science about the forest. You will breath deeply, smell the moist freshness, hear the sounds of the forest and river, and touch natures textures. You will then be guided down a gravelled walkway and given a series of invitations on scrolls. You may follow the invitation or you can experience the forest in your own way. After each invitation is complete, we will meet and you’ll be invited to share what you noticed (if you wish), gaining wisdom from each other and nature. Your connection to nature grows with each invitation until you notice a deep sense of relaxation and “ahhhhh”. To gently conclude, you will be invited to share a tea that has been wildcrafted from items your guide collected on our walk. This is not exercise, it’s an experience. We don’t go very far (less than 1 km) and we don’t go very fast. The trail is mostly flat but it is gravelled so can be uneven. We encourage comfortable closed-toed footwear.

Additional Information

This is not your average walk in the forest. This walk helps create wellness through exposure to phytocydes released into the air by the evergreen trees to protect themselves from harm. These phytocydes trigger our bodies to create additional white blood cells which are our “fighter” cells. So by the trees protecting themselves, they also protect us. In addition, “Twenty to 30 minutes of nature three times a week, or as a regular part of your weekly schedule may open the door to many long-term emotional, mental and physical benefits” said Dr. Jason Strauss, director of geriatric psychiatry at Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance. So imagine the benefits after two hours! Interestingly, in British Columbia, doctors are able to prescribe time in nature through the ParX program.

  • Not recommended for travelers with allergies to natural items
  • You must be able walk, sit and stand for up to two hours. You are welcome to bring your own folding chair if you can carry it.
