A one week course of dedicated teaching and studio work. Ideal for mastery of key ceramics skills and enjoy dedicated time to build a body of work.

Your teacher, Wendy, will lead during this 20 hour course over 5 days. Sign-up on your own or with a friend - this is an open, friendly environment.

No prior ceramics experience is necessary.

Everything is included. No need to bring anything special with you. We’ll have an apron ready for you. Each student can select upto 5 items to kiln fire.

Instruction is in Spanish and /or English based on your preferences.

What you’ll learn and what we’ll do

The course is 5 consecutive four hour classes Monday - Friday. Each class is designed to introduce specific techniques during the first two hours. The second two hours are individual construction with dedicated instruction.

Learn essential handbuilding techniques. These skills are used to create functional and sculptural work. This provides the foundation for nearly any handbuilding project.

By the end of this course you learn many clay hand building techniques and produce some unique ceramic pieces.

This course is suitable for all levels.

Additional Information

This is a week-long training and creation program perfect for mastering essential ceramics techniques and having ample time to produce a range of artwork.

The course involves a communal exploration of pottery embellishment strategies and lets participants in on the joy of the craft. A visit and hands-on experience in a professional ceramics studio is incomparable. Our craftspeople’s studio holds an accreditation from the Generalitat de Catalunya, making it an extraordinary and memorable experience to dip your toes into this time-honoured craft.

Wendy and Eric, her husband, are the mind and heart behind Taller Gingell. They have been lauded as ‘an exceptional fresh wave of craftsmen’⁠ and spotlighted as ‘craftsmen initiatives you ought to be aware of in the realm of fashion’⁠⁠ by Marie Claire, Condé Nast Traveller, among others.

Wendy’s work has been displayed across Europe and North America, featuring in institutions such as the Smithsonian, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Barcelona Design Museum, and the American Craft Council craft shows. Her artwork has found a home in both museum collections and private holdings throughout North America and Europe.

Wonderful experience for me...a truly good workshop with amazing people and full of great learnings - Wendy and Eric are two incredible people. They are kind, attentive to every detail, and to everyone's expectations, while fully sharing their passion, expertise, and what makes their workshop a magical place. Wendy is an excellent teacher, and she accompanied me perfectly throughout all my sessions. I am extremely happy with this experience, and it has touched me deeply on many levels. The workshop is very well-equipped, functional, and it feels good to be there. I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time learning ceramics or improving their skills.

Best experience for beginners - Wendy and Eric were amazing teachers, very friendly, helpful and precise. The atmosphere in there lovely studio was calm and inspiring being surrounded by their beautiful ceramics. It was the best workshop to start working with clay.

Our best summer experience ever ! - Hello to everyone who considers enrolling in a course at Taller Gingel's ceramics classes ! The week we spent with Wendy and Eric doing this course was so fun and interesting that we consider repeating it next year. They were so very involved with what we were doing and enthousiast throughout all our pieces of work. Even if our projects were a bit extravagant, they went with it anyway and encouraged us to follow our ideas. Nothing to say that enrolling in this course means you can come up with your own ideas and techniques you look forward to with no problem. And if you don't, no problem, they'll have ideas. Overall the ambiance was great in the work-shop, with Eric being the funniest ceramic teacher (Now's all the best songs as well ) and Wendy the sweetest and caring . WARNING: If you enroll in this course, YOU WILL DRINK WATER. They will make sure about that. (Best free filtered water in all of Barcelona). Ether-ways we thank both of them for that great week of internship and we recommend it to anyone interested in ceramic classes. Hope to see them again very soon.

Intensive Ceramic Handbuilding Course - I had such a good time with Wendy in Taller Gingell! I really appreciated the one on one time. It was really personal and perfect for anybodys skills. It was a perfect mix between guiding and creating free, just whatever you need! I would recommend this course for everyone who is into pottery or looking to try something new, creative! I loved it!

Exceptional Learning with Welcoming Instructors - I had the opportunity to attend a one-week workshop at Taller Gingell, and the amount of knowledge I gained in such a short time was remarkable. Eric and Wendy, the instructors, were not only welcoming but also incredibly helpful. They encouraged me to ask questions and were consistently enthusiastic about providing feedback and sharing their thoughts. Memorable experience! :) - Wendy and Eric know what they are doing! I enjoyed my time so much, it was very relxing, but at the same time very useful and fun! Wendy makes this course very enjoyable and easy to follow with her step by step teaching style! They make sure that you feel comfortable and give you tips on how to improve your piece of ceramic because they really want you to be satisfied. Every detail of the workshop is perfectly planned and organised and it is obvious that they put a lot of effort in it. All the recommendations for this ceramic course!

Educational and a great laugh! - Wendy and Eric are as generous with their time as they are welcoming, I felt right at home for the whole course and our classes were full of chatter and laughs. On top of being an incredible ceramicist Wendy is an excellent teacher, I really felt like she adapted the classes to suit everyones pace, and if I could I would take all of her pieces home with me as they are so beautiful! They’ve really got a great studio going on there and I would highly recommend doing a course there to anyone. I look forward to being able to do another course again soon!

An enjoyable experience - Wendy is a knowledgeable, passionate and very helpful teacher! She guided and inspired me a lot according to my field of interest. During the five days, I received a lot of creative guidance and we tried different techniques together. It was really fun!
