Great visit to monastery and hike on the mountain - Nice visit to the monastery and mountain, and a great (easier) hike. Our guide showed us lots of interesting things along the route and had lots of information throughout the tour. Would definitely recommend.

Great Hike - What a challenging and amazing hike with beautiful views. Fermi took us beyond the normal hike all the way to the top of one of the mountains. He provided great information on the Monastery. He gauged our ability levels and asked how far we wanted to push ourselves. There were some challenging and strenuous sections, and the views were amazing. One of the best parts of our long vacation.

Highlight of our trip to Spain! - As part of our trip to Barcelona, our travel agent scheduled a half day hike of Montserrat for my wife and I. We were picked up at our hotel in Barcelona, and made the trip to Montserrat about 45 minutes away. Not sure what to expect, we set out with our two guide (Fermi and Frank) on the Western face of the mountain. Having singled us out as "being in good shape", we embarked on the hike of a lifetime, pushing us physically, for an amazing day. Steep climbs were rewarded with amazing views. Our guides were kind and made us feel safe, in addition to providing water and orienteering advice. On our descent, we had a wonderful lunch on a mountain crag with views to die for. The descent was as exciting as the ascent, and the hike is one that we will always remember.

Best part of my trip to BCN!! Highly recommended!!! - I signed up for the group hike but it ended up just being myself and Fermi. From the beginning, Fermi was very welcoming and outgoing and made sure to point out certain landmarks on our way to Monserrat. Once there, we took a tour of the monastery and then made our way up the funicular to the top. We were lucky enough to see a herd of mountain goats so we made our way to the top of the mountain to get a better glimpse. The views are absolutely stunning. Fermi made sure to point out different aspects of the trail and the area, as a whole, which was much appreciated. As we descended, it became a bit more difficult but we made it down the mountain. I would caution beginners or people with limited mobility to tell Fermi up front so he can tailor your hike to your needs. I'd rate my hike as moderate to difficult which I did not expect, but none the less enjoyed the challenge which only made it more fun. If you are in BCN for an extended stay and want to take a break from Gaudi and the city life, I highly recommend taking in nature and the stunning views of Montserrat with Fermi-he's a pro!

One of the highlights of our trip... -
One of the highlights of our trip, simply amazing and beautiful. We had a great guide who was informative, but easy going and very likable. We arrived early so the lines to see the Black Madonna were short. The Black Madonna was really profound whether you are religious or not, it just has a cool presence and aura to it. It was chilly on the mtn and we were grateful for wearing layers. Our hike was AWESOME. Moderate hike/climb, but incredibly beautiful. Our teenager even loved the entire trip!! If you are going to Montserrat, take the time for the hike, it is worth it. You'll see incredible rock structures and stunning views, enjoy fresh air, and gain just enough history and story-telling to keep it interesting, but without boring you. We saw lots of rock climbers which was neat. The drive is a solid 45 minutes from Barcelona. We were shuttled in a comfortable van in a group of 7 our guide 3 of us 2 other couples. Great time, highly recommend!!

This was an amazing experience. Our... -
This was an amazing experience. Our guide promptly picked us up and took us to Monserrat. We went to see the Black Madonna first to beat the crowds. This was a great idea, since when we returned from the mountain, there were a lot of tour buses and people. We had an amazing, personalized tour and hike. We ended up being the only 2 people, so it was a great experience, walking at our own pace, and seeing everything we could want.

I was very impressed at the care our guide took in picking up garbage, moving loose stones, and even scolding a young teen who was throwing rocks that could hurt someone. He loved nature, as we do, and it showed.

It rained, a lot, on our way down, but it didn't bother us at all. It was a beautiful day and a great way to see a beautiful part of the world. We ended the day at the local market buying fresh, locally made cheese, honey and treats. Awesome experience!
