Highlights
  • Monument al Llibre - Along the Modernism Route, we will trace the sinuous dream path that took Antoni Gaudí from his social concerns to a total absorption with the divine, until he finally became “the last great cathedral builder.”
We will talk about eclecticism and the end of modernism, the Crypt of Colony Güell and the Sagrada Família, utopian socialism, positivist materialism, the intellectual bourgeoisie, the Spanish Civil War, anarchism, beatification and deliquescent surfaces.
We will see the Antoni Tàpies Foundation and Casa Lleó Morera by Domènech i Montaner, Casa Amatller by Puig i Cadafalch, some hidden Eixample courtyards and, of course, Casa Calvet, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà by Antoni Gaudí. We don’t go inside the buildings.

In depth architecture tour of Barcelona with an architect who has passion for the city - Starting with our outstanding tour guide, Pia, I would use the words "passion" and deep knowledge of history, architecture and society that led Barcelona to look as it does. Pia shared the complex information as a set of stories, pulled out her notebook to draw diagrams. Both times we had a small group, so she was able to answer any questions we had. It was amazing, by far the best tour of a city that we have had. We did two tours with Pia, and both were awesome. I wish we had more time to do the other tours as well. Absolutely would recommend these tours to people who are interested in a deeper understanding of the architecture.

Best Tour in Barcelona - Pia gave the most interesting walking tour I've ever been on. It was full of Barcelona history, urban planning theory, and architecture design 101. We were amazed by her breadth of knowledge and really appreciated her attention to detail. The tour gave me a better insight of the city and an overall understanding of Gaudi and other architects of his time. I highly, highly recommend this tour.

Fascinating and inspiring tour - Had the most wonderful informative walking tour with Pia. The theme was Gaudí but we learnt about so much more. An insightful, fascinating way to learn more about Barcelona. A fantastic experience for anyone at all interested in cities, urban planning, architecture, design and Barcelonas history.

A tribute to Gaudi, modernism and the city planning of Barcelona. - This tour was simply amazing. Of course we were explained and shown a lot about Gaudi's arquitecture but what I found the most interesting is the contextualisation of it in the modernism period, the social transformations of the late 19 th period and the urbain planning going back to the revolutionary work of Cerda. The tour is certainly not reserved for the Gaudi afectionados. It's everything except a tourist atraction.

Getting to understand Gaudi and Barcelona - This was a very enjoyable and informative way to get a good understanding of Gaudi, and the world in which he worked, ie Barcelona. Pia, our guide, was wonderful; personable, interesting, engaging, informative, educative, if that’s a word. it was a total delight to spend 3 hours with her as she taught us about architecture, gaudi and Barcelona . She gave a great overview of Barcelona history , woven into current developments in the city today. Some of her commentary was a bit technical, but it did give us a greater appreciation for Gaudi. Highly recommend, if you’re interested in getting more depth in understanding Barcelona than the usual guide. Excellent value.

Wonderful tour with Pia - What a wonderful introduction to Barcelona. My husband and I enjoyed our tour with Pia very much. Informative and engaging. We valued her broad knowledge of history … and how 19th century planners and the genius of Gaudi helped shape the city today. Many thanks.

Magnificent Barcelona. - Pía was the most knowledgeable and engaging guide. We absolutely loved every minute and so appreciated her expertise. She contextualices 2000 years of history brilliantly and in short order, giving us a framework in which to savor, enjoy, revel in the majesty of Barcelona. She was incredibly insightful and receptive to our questions and interests. We really have not had this excellent a guide in several years. We are so grateful. Also loved her sense of humor and the depth of the tour was profound and fun. All at once.

Fascinating and Informative Tour - My wife and I greatly enjoyed the Barcelona-Gaudi tour. Pia, our guide, is an architect and professor, who offered fascinating insights, explanations, and information about Gaudi's work, as well as about Barcelona more generally, the culture, the schools, and the people. Pia was an absolute delight.

Gaudi's Legacy Insights - It was the first thing we did right after we landed, we hadn't even checked in at our hotel. We couldn't reach the tour guide Pia to let her know we could've arrived late, so we decided to try to get to the meeting point as soon as possible with our luggage in hand. We found the group at the meeting point and let Pia know about our situation. She was very kind and understanding, and let us check in at the hotel first which wasn't too far from the route we had to walk. She would make an introduction a bit longer to wait for us. After we finally joined the group, we got the hearing aids which were really useful with this mode of guided tour. Pia was very insightful with all the history of every place we visited and full of the architecture and structure knowledge. We were really enthusiastic to listen to her resources as we both have architecture degree (but we both did not end up being an architect). The route was not too long or exhausting for walking, and we got to see all the highlights in the area. We would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Gaudi like us or an architecture nerd. For those who are not in the creative industry, it is also very interesting to learn the brief history of what had shaped the legacy and greatness of Barcelona up until today.
