Take One of Their Tours! - Four of us booked a private tour (the "Barcelona & Gaudi" tour) in late September. Jelena was the guide, a professor at the university with a Ph.D, specializing in the history of architecture (specifically, the 19th & 20th century). Essentially, she gave us a broad education on Barcelona leading up to and including Gaudi's time, and it was...well, it was excellent, and greatly enriched our experience of the wonderful city of Barcelona. I absolutely recommend Barcelona Architectural Walks--a great little company with a big heart (and quite a pedigree of education!).

Exactly what I wanted from a Gaudi tour - I had an absolute blast on this tour! I've taken many a free-walking-tour, but this one is certainly special due to being led by an architect. Tomas was our architect of the day and he was so nice to chat with and he clearly loves what he does. Finally, you can ask almost any question imaginable, so try to think of something challenging :) Just a heads up, a lot of people gave a tip at the end of the tour. Maybe this was a cultural thing, because there were Americans, Canadians, and Australians as far as I remember. I don't think giving a tip is expected though.

A great tour with a great guide - A fantastic tour, Pia was engaging, knowledgeable and fun. We would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the history of Barcelona and Gaudi's contribution to its architecture. Our eyes were opened to things we would not have otherwise noticed, it made the rest of our stay in Barcelona all the more enjoyable,

Better than expected! - My husband picked out this tour and I thought... (yawn) bo-ring. But I was wrong. The tour was very interesting and engaging. Taught us to pay attention to the buildings and to "look up" while walking through the city. Highly recommend.

interesting and well organized - I thoroughly enjoyed my guided tour with Jelena. I am very interested in architecture and urban planning, so this kind of tour is right up my alley. The instructions on where to meet were clear, the earphones were very useful (though the sound cut out a few times, for the most part it worked well) and allowed us to hear what was being said in spite of surrounding urban sounds. The pace was good and the guide tried to find shady areas to stand if she needed to pause in an area for a while. She provided valuable insight to key works of architecture, not only by Gaudi but also Lluis Domenich i Montaner and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and she put much of Barcelona's urban plan into early modern context. I enjoyed the walking tour so much that I am signing up for others.
