This picturesque trek guides us to a highly scenic area on the eastern side of Ischia Island. Our journey kicks off from Barano center. The eastern shoreline unveils itself authentically, showcasing traditional settlements, a unique pilgrimage church, fruit orchards, vineyards and rugged cliffs. Majestic panoramic vistas of Vesuvius, the ocean, and Capri form our constant companions. Along the path, we partially encircle a millennial volcanic monument. A shallow expanse in the ocean near the cliffs indicates the location of another submerged volcano. Featherweight pumice stones form the cliff wall, serving as a reminder of the region’s volcanic history. Ancient terrace gardens, still in use for cultivating wine and vegetables, highlight the region’s agricultural character. We break for relaxation at a farmhouse with a grand view of Vesuvius before culminating our trip at the charming village square of Campagnano.
