The River Kwai, comprising of Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai, courses through Kanchanaburi, eventually merging with the Mae Klong river. This is the location where Japanese captors forced Prisoners of War to construct the death-railway alongside the River Kwai during the Second World War. The Japanese, after successful conquests in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia transported 140,000 war prisoners and over 200,000 mandatory laborers to Thailand to build a 415 km long railroad. This construction project claimed many lives of these prisoners.

Rubbish - avoid, guess it was a scam, ezpecially if advertised through Tripadvidor - We waited 1.5 hours from 0630hrs for a pick up from hotel. Nobody turned up despite confirmation and e-ticket. Tried to contact True Asia Tours on +66909487063 but this was a wrong number. Nobody has tried to call me back and have sent a message to them via Tripadvisor
