Highlights
  • Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit) - 08.30am. Pick up from various hotels. 08.45am. Meet your English-speaking tour guide to visit Wat Trimit (Golden Buddha), home to a 5.5-tonne solid gold Buddha statue sculpted in the Sukhothai style.
  • Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center - Drive through Chinatown, Indian Town, the flower market, and Bangkok’s central business district. Yaowarat Road, also known as Chinatown Bangkok, is the heart of Bangkok’s Chinese community. By day, it may seem like any other part of the city, but this bustling street hides many treasures waiting to be discovered. At night, neon signs with Chinese characters light up, and numerous eateries spill onto the streets, attracting food enthusiasts. While many articles touch on Yaowarat, they often only scratch the surface. We delved deeper to uncover hidden gems and sat down with the owners to hear their stories.
  • Wat Pho Thai Traditional Massage School - Visit Wat Pho, the temple of the Reclining Buddha, featuring a magnificent statue that is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, covered in gold leaf. In addition to housing one of the world’s most famous reclining Buddha statues, the temple grounds contain over 1,000 other Buddha images. Wat Pho is the birthplace of Thai massage and remains a significant center for traditional medicine studies. The official name of Wat Pho is Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan, but “Wat Pho” (pronounced like “watt poe”) is commonly used.
  • Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market) - While not a typical tourist spot, Pak Khlong Talat attracts visitors looking to experience the daily life of Bangkok. The Flower Market has a cramped and chaotic atmosphere, similar to nearby Chinatown, and first-time visitors can easily get lost among the vibrant colors and enticing scents of this sprawling market filled with endless rows of roses, ornate orchids, crisp carnations, and miles of marigolds.
  • Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple) - Visit the Marble Temple, a blend of Thai and European architecture that houses a unique collection of rare Buddha images. Construction began in 1899 at the request of King Chulalongkorn after building his palace nearby. The temple’s name means ‘the Temple of the fifth King located near Dusit Palace’. Designed by Prince Naris, a half-brother of the king, it is built from Italian marble and features Carrara marble pillars, a marble courtyard, and two large singhas (lions) guarding the entrance to the bot. The interiors are adorned with lacquer and gold crossbeams, and the walls feature paintings of important stupas from across the country. The cloister around the assembly hall houses 52 Buddha images.

If you want to a ride to see the sites...but leave before you are taken to the gem shop - This tour is good if you want a quick visit to the three sites. The tour states that it ends at 1pm but, in reality, it ended at 11am and then we were taken to a jewelry/gem shop (the website doesnt mention this). If you want a ride to the three sites (with only 30 min at each), then take the tour and take a cab home from the last temple....if not, you get stuck at the store. FYI, the tour guide gave us basic info regarding the sites (what you can find in a book). Hint: Take time to see the two museums (for 100 baht) located on the floors underneath the golden Budda...both interesting.
