Highlights
  • SeaStar Andaman - Day Tours - Get conveniently picked up in the early morning by minivan from your hotel in Khao Lak and head over to Nam Khem Pier. Meet the enthusiastic boat crew of SeaStar Andaman and enjoy a light breakfast before cruising by speed boat in less than 90 minutes to the unspoiled Surin Islands. Mu Koh Surin National Park is situated in Phang Nga province, roughly 60 kilometres away from the shore.

Make the first snorkel stop in Chong Khat Bay which is located between the two main Surin Islands. At low tides it is actually possible to walk across, as the water is extremely shallow. Our guides will explain you how to protect and conserve coral reefs through the environmentally friendly guidelines of Green Fins for your snorkelling experience.

Continue to Koh Surin Tai (the Southern Surin Island) to discover the natural way of life of the 150 Moken sea gypsies. The Chao Leh, which means ‘The Sea People’ in Thai, spend much of their lives on their boats, called ‘kabang’. The Moken survive mainly through fish hunting and gathering of shellfish and other marine life from the reefs and mudflats.

At Mai Ngam Beach you can enjoy the beach life or do some walking along the 2-kilometre hiking trail. Then indulge in a delectable buffet lunch in the canteen of the park ranger station to fuel your energy for the next snorkelling sessions.

Make your way to Bon Bay or Pineapple Bay (depending on the sea conditions) where you can swim on vibrant coral reefs and spot colourful fish hovering around their natural habitats in calm waters. The last snorkel stop will be at Mae Yai Bay with a jump into the clean and clear turquoise waters brimming with magnificent underwater aqua life.

After a lovely time, it is time to say goodbye to Surin Islands and to return to the pier in Khao Lak. Enjoy some sweets and coffee before returning to your accommodation in Khao Lak with happy smiles and an amazing story to tell your friends.

Surin Islands the best for snorkeling - Of all the islands off of Phuket Surin Islands are the best for snorkeling. The reefs are beautiful and teaming with fish. The tour ran smoothly and we able to snorkel three times as well as swim and relax on the beach. We had a fabulous experience and highly recommend this tour.

Great day out - We really enjoyed the snorkelling opportunities. Plenty of room to enter and exit the water with help provided by staff. The meals provided were very good also. We did not feel overcrowded even though the boat was full.

Fantastic day out - We booked the Surin Islands trip with sea star after a recommendation, sure enough we had a great day, the pick-up from the hotel was prompt and when we got to the pier there was fresh coffee and breakfast waiting for us, the catamaran was fast clean and modern. We visited the sea gypsies first and the moved on to an early lunch, which was really tasty. All the staff on-board were helpful and the snacks and soft drinks were served during the entire trip, then it was on to the two stops for snorkeling, we stopped at two great reef's both populated with Acropora, Montipora, slipper corals, fungia and many other corals, there were some stunning fish, butterfly fish, clowns hosting Anenomies, damsels, sweetlips, to name a few. We had about an hour on each reef was was plenty of time. Then it was time for the journey back to the pier, the catamaran ate the miles up and was super smooth. When we got back to the pier we we given fresh coffee and snacks before departing back to our Hotels. I would like to take time to mention all the crew who were super helpful, i really want to thank MOANA for helping my wife with the snorkling, well Done MOANA you made a special day great.

Seastar Surin Snorkelling Trip - Today my husband and I went on the surin island snorkeling trip , it was a great day starting off at the Namkhem Marina where a buffet breakfast was laid on for us , we then embarked on the trip first stop was to visit the moken sea gypsy village where we were shown and helped make a bracelet out of reused fishing nets you could keep this and was included . We then went to Chong Kad for just under two hours for lunch and a swim .we then went to the first snorkelling site , I'm not great at snorkelling, and Moana kindly helped me round for the full hour which was much appreciated as I got to see lots of fish and corals. We were given plenty of snacks and drinks throughout the day as well as the lunch .The whole crew were brilliant and they are an asset to Seastar they couldn't do enough for us . Great trip. I definitely recommend it and a big thumbs up to the Moana and the team .Thank you for a great day Dawny & Andy

Great snorkeling, very well organised - If you want a reef of fish to yourself with no other snorkelers in sight, this trip is not for you! But the quality and ease of the snorkeling is great, with many, many brightly coloured smaller fish to see. And once you are under water, it's easy to forget the crowds Sea Star run a very efficient operation, dealing with large numbers of customers with speed and good humour. Their snorkeling equipment and flippers are well maintained and the staff are helpful to all levels of experience. The lunch on the island (provided by the national park) is nothing to write home about (we avoided the seafood stew!) But the snacks and drinks on the boat are plentiful and you can stock up on breakfast and more substantial snacks at Sea Stars pier on the mainland Finally, the Surin Islands themselves are beautiful, like something out of a storybook. The nearest to 'paradise' I've seen in 6 months of travelling.

Beautiful but uncomfortable - The snorking is awsome some of the best we have ever done . The island are beautiful and live up to there reputation. However there are 2 things that let the trip down . The boat layout was terrible and we were crammed in like sardines what is weird is the boat looked new and was definitely very sea worthy and the 2 other boats with us from the same company had proper seats but for some reason SeaStar 11 has a bench running round the perimeter that is too narrow and too far off the ground with a vertical back board. So you legs dangled with the support ending half way down your thigh. The second issue was the buffet lunch that consisted of rice with stewed vegetables in different broths. This is fine but it was cold and had been sitting in the open air for a good while. Overall I would do the trip again if I was put on a boat with a proper seat.
