Interesting Trip - Our full-day tour of the Candy Mountains and Guba with my family was an unforgettable experience, filled with incredible natural beauty and fascinating cultural discoveries. We started our adventure at the Candy Mountains, a stunning natural wonder in Azerbaijan. Known for its breathtaking multi-colored hills, the Candy Mountains lived up to their name. The layers of pink, orange, and white rock formations were unlike anything we had ever seen. The colors were especially vibrant under the sunlight, and it felt like stepping into another world. The landscape was peaceful and surreal, with wide expanses of untouched nature around us. We spent time hiking along the trails, enjoying the unique geology of the area, and taking plenty of photos to capture the beauty of the mountains. After soaking in the landscapes of the Candy Mountains, we continued our journey to Guba, a city with a rich history and a gateway to the Caucasus Mountains. Guba’s charm lies in its mix of cultural heritage and natural surroundings. We explored the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, which was a deeply moving experience. The memorial, dedicated to the victims of the 1918 massacre, is both educational and emotional. The somber atmosphere allowed us to reflect on the history of the region and pay our respects. We also visited the Quba Carpet Weaving Factory, where we were able to see the traditional craft of carpet weaving in action. The artisans demonstrated their techniques, and we were able to admire the intricate patterns and vibrant colors in the carpets. It was fascinating to learn about the history and significance of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan’s culture. The day ended with a relaxing visit to the Quba market, where we enjoyed walking through the lively streets filled with local goods. The market was bustling with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to traditional handicrafts. We picked up a few souvenirs and tasted some of the local delights, including pomegranate juice and nuts, which are specialties of the region. Overall, the Candy Mountains and Guba tour was an amazing combination of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and historical insights. It offered us a glimpse into Azerbaijan's diverse landscapes and rich heritage. We all had a fantastic time exploring the colorful mountains, learning about the local history, and experiencing the warmth of Azerbaijani culture. It was a perfect day out for our family, and we’ll definitely cherish these memories.

Fabulous trip! - Tabriz was an excellent tour guide, impressionable young man with a passion for telling stories. He spoke Russian and English fluently and took the time to share his knowledge and Azeri history with passion and a deep love for his country. The tour is great and a wonderful way to visit sites outside of Baku.

The Good and Not So Good - Visiting Khinaliq was high on my list but almost every tour operator had cancelled their tours whilst I was there due to the condition of the road so I was delighted Smile were running the trip, the driver was amazing getting us there and the scenery was stunning so that was the good bit. However as a tour I was not impressed, first of all the company couldn't take card payment from me, everywhere else I used it no problem, they insisted on accompanying me to the money change otherwise said I couldn't book so I had to go to the nearby one with them which was a poor rate. Then I had no pre-notification of pick up just a message saying driver in white car was waiting, it took me about 15 minutes to find it was a minivan parked further up the road. Then they dropped me off but it wasn't clear where to go, it was chaos and people on another tour got left behind even though they were there in good time. Eventually after about 20 minutes a member of staff told me to wait for the English speaking group but at the same time another lady kept telling me to get in the minibus. Finally it was confirmed and I was offered the front seat next to the driver, perfect for the views I thought and we set off. I can't tell you the guides name as he didn't introduce himself, in fact I didn't hear him say anything till we stopped at the supermarket and he said it was a 10 min break. Then we continued to Candy Cane Mountain where he told us to go to take photos and did tell me a bit about the colour when I asked him. Next up was a lunch stop and I met 2 other English speaking guests who said guide hardly gave any information but chatted non stop with the other guests who were all Russian. I told him I couldn't hear anything, I don't know why he didn't use a microphone like most guides do, anyway I still never heard anything about the places, just a few times he came behind my seat to ask if I was OK. When we arrived at Khinaliq he told us a few facts then just disappeared with the Russian guests so we didn't get a tour of the village and had to just walk round on our own. Then we went back to Baku, none of the other stops happened, which I didn't mind but should have been explained. The lunch was the worst food I had in Azerbaijan, service was awful but a mandatory 15% was applied. Still happy I got to go but can't recommend this provider

Disorganized and not enjoyable trip - The only attraction of this tour was candy mountains. The lady guide was not fluent in english. There was no narration of the history related to the places , instead it was just turkish family talk with other parties in our group . Later when we googled about this guba , we could see there is lot of history related to it which was not given to us. The UNESCO site was not reachable due to some bridge problem . The guide said we can see it from another spot, which was not covered. A very disinterested guide ... maybe good in turkish language but not english. Finally we were booked for a drop off to our hotel, which the manager goofed up and then we had get down at the meeting point. Though the guide paid and got us a cab, it was another wait.

Sucks. - Totally sucks, leads nowhere on brooches, lures them to their restaurants where they get interest, candy store and all that. don't slam it, friends!
