Setting Sail on a Bahamian Adventure

As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for experiences that promise both adventure and relaxation, and the Exuma Cays Tour was calling my name. But these gentle giants were more like curious puppies than fearsome predators. The kids were initially hesitant, but with a little encouragement, they were soon swimming alongside these magnificent creatures. After our shark encounter, we made our way to Pig Beach. Yes, you read that right—swimming pigs! This was a highlight for the kids, who couldn’t stop giggling as the pigs paddled around us. Feeding and swimming with these adorable animals was a unique experience that none of us will soon forget. Lunchtime brought us to Great Exuma, where we enjoyed a delicious Bahamian-style buffet at a local restaurant. The food was a hit with everyone, and it was a great opportunity to relax and recharge before continuing our adventure. The local flavors were a treat, and I made a mental note to try and recreate some of the dishes at home.

Our final stop was a stunning sandbar, a perfect spot for some beach time. The kids built sandcastles while my husband and I soaked up the sun. It was the perfect way to end our day, and as we headed back to Paradise Island, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the memories we had made.
