Setting Sail to Adventure

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I boarded the speedboat, ready to leave the hustle and bustle of Nassau behind. The promise of a day filled with unique wildlife encounters and the thrill of the open sea had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today was no exception. The high-powered cruise to the Exuma chain was the perfect way to kick off this adventure.

The speedboat ride was exhilarating, with the wind whipping through my hair and the salty spray of the sea on my face. Sitting at the front of the boat, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of freedom and anticipation. Our first stop was Allens Cay, where we were greeted by a beach teeming with wild iguanas. Armed with grapes on sticks, we fed these fascinating creatures, their scales glistening in the sun. It was a surreal experience, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos with a live starfish that our guide, Gary, had found.

Island Life and Pig Encounters

After our iguana encounter, we made our way to Ship Channel Cay, a private island paradise. The moment we arrived, I felt the stress of everyday life melt away. Afterward, we indulged in a hearty lunch, complete with fresh conch salad and a variety of other delicious options.

As the day wound down, I took the opportunity to lounge on the beach, soaking in the sun and the crystal-clear waters. With a drink in hand and the sound of the waves lapping at the shore, I felt a profound sense of contentment.
