The best experience! - The dance was amazing! I would really recommend booking tickets in advance (at least the day before), we stupidly thought we would be okay turning up on the day until I looked online during the journey to Uluwatu and everything was sold out. I contacted this company and they were super helpful and actually managed to get me 2x last minute tickets - I didn’t expect them to be able to so they really went above and beyond to help us out, we are really appreciative as the show really made the day for us!

Performance: AMAZING, Audience: ATROCIOUS - The performance was absolutely amazing. Everything about it was spot on; the music/chanting, dance, storytelling, costumes, etc. I was in absolute awe. However, it was completely ruined by the audience around me. People talking, phones not on silent, toddlers and parents chatting away at full speaking voice volume. There were two couples in front of me; 3 of them were recording (surely just get one person to record and then that could be shared with everyone?) and the fourth was on FaceTime with 3 people, where we could hear their conversation! There was also an idiot shouting “speak in English!” multiple times as well. It was disgraceful and disrespectful. I am extremely disappointed in the organisers and their lack of control and authority over the audience. It ruined the evening. What’s more, it felt like only my girlfriend and I were the only ones trying to get everyone to be quiet so we could enjoy the show. I highly recommend this show to visitors, however I hope this review resonates with people who have gone and watched the show, and that this hopefully prompts positive change for future shows.

Not much fire for a "fire dance" - Chaotic double entry, not much fire. You have to pay for entry to the Temple grounds to gain access to the show, so you que and pay twice. Be aware the monkeys are diffent to those at the Monkey Forest. These are aggressive. We personally witnessed 3 sets of glasses stolen from people's faces. They also took a water bottle and cap. If your phone is in your hand they will take that too. The line up for entry is prettymuch a pushing contest and the pathway leading in narrows with steps too, so it's actually fairly dangerous if you're older or have kids. There is little direction from the staff and theor English is very hard to understand and contradictory. The show itself was quite boring for the first half.. essentially just a circle of guys chanting as characters seemingly randomly come and go. Everyone around me was looking bored. The second half is entertaining with a slow ramp up with some audience participation. Very little fire for a "fire dance". The last 5 minutes was actually good. Our show was ruined by about 10% of the approximately 1000 people getting up before the show even ended and began walking across the stage to the exit in order to beat the rush out.

Nice, but overrated - The dance show itself is a bit overrated, Just a full hour of pretty much the same thing. I guess some people will like it more than I did but over all it wasn't the amazing experience my friends and I expected. On top of that, the entrance to the show is extremely unorganized and chaotic. Yes, it's something to see while in Uluwatu, but don't have high expectations.

The most UNholy experience - We booked online for the 2nd show even though it was in USD but we wanted to be sure we had tickets. Paid a driver RP400k for round trip. On the way there, our driver told us to be very careful of the monkeys. This was bad news as one of our sons has already been freaked out by them before. When we got there, the temple was swarming with tourists and unbelievable acts of the monkeys. We saw many glasses being snatched and snapped by the monkeys despite the Balinese men’s attempts to get them back. We asked if we could possibly see the early show to save our son being any further stressed - no. So we did our best to stay away from the monkeys and glimpse the sunset on the temple as we all pushed past each other and I clung to my glasses. On the cliffs, we saw tourists asking for it and sure enough phones and earrings were snatched. They are fed by the Balinese men to ‘try to’ get the things back. It’s clear to see - the monkeys have been made into heartless creatures by the tourists who shouldn’t be there. Then we went to work out how to get into the show. Once I’d shown our eticket, the guy told me it was booked for 2 nights before and it wasn’t for Uluwatu temple?!? Yes, I’d booked for the wrong night but NO it was definitely booked for Uluwatu. He didn’t want to know. Just like the heartless monkey energy, he refused to look at our ticket, to see it hadn’t been redeemed and only told us to go back out of the temple, get cash from the ATM and buy more tickets. With 1000s coming to the shows, we were so disappointed that this mistake wasn’t honoured.. so we left. Since then, so many others have said ‘not worth it’, to the kecak and temple experience.
