Highlights
  • Avebury Stone Circle - You will be collected from your preferred pick-up point in Bath and will be driven to the small village of Avebury in a private car. Avebury is home to the world’s largest stone circle which dates back to approx. 2600BC. With your guide you will explore the remains of this ancient stone circle and your guide will explain about its history and the latest discoveries. At Avebury you are free to wander among the stones and touch them. Some people can sense great energy from the stones and today it is a popular place for New Age spiritualists.

After visiting the long barrow we will continue to a historic English pub for lunch.

  • West Kennet Long Barrow - After exploring Avebury we will continue to the West Kennet Long Barrow which is one of the oldest pre-historic monuments in the country, built over 5,600 years ago! It is a communal tomb which once housed the remains of a number of individuals. Today it is one of the best examples of a pre-historic chambered tomb and should you wish visitors can go inside.
  • Silbury Hill - During the tour we will pass Silbury Hill - a man-made chalk hill. Built thousands of years ago its exact purpose remains a mystery. It is said that Stonehenge could fit on the top of it!
  • Stonehenge - After lunch we will continue to Britain’s most famous pre-historic monument: Stonehenge. Your guide will take you around the Visitor Centre and the ancient stone circle. Your guide will explain about its history, how archaeologists believe it was constructed and will tell you interesting stories behind the site. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos.

After exploring Stonehenge you will be driven back to Bath.

Excellent! - We appreciated Daniel’s friendly and calm demeanor. He made us feel welcome right away and was sensitive to our needs throughout the day (walking pace, rain gear, bio breaks, etc). This tour is an excellent way to see several important sites efficiently without the stress of renting a car and navigating unfamiliar roads as a tourist. If we return to the region, we would take another tour with Daniel. Thank you.

Amazing Day learning about Prehistoric Britain! - We had an amazing day with Daniel as our guide! The weather was perfect (which I know he doesn't control, but it started out not so good). He took us to Avebury and the West Kennet Long Barrow. We stopped for a delightful lunch in a quintessential small British town pub and finally, saved the best for last, Stonehenge. Daniel very patiently answered ALL of our many questions (even when the answers were "nobody knows") and was great with my often overly quiet teenager, trying to get him out of his shell. I was impressed with how much research he seems to put into his tours. Very often he'd mention speaking with an archeologist or historian, or even exploring other areas on his own. For an extra fee, Daniel even ended up driving us onto our next hotel instead of taking us back to Bath which was a huge load off of my shoulders! I find myself wanting to return to Bath simply to take another tour with Daniel! 15 out of 10 day!!

Highlight of the trip - Our time with Daniel was the highlight of our 2 week trip to England. This tour offered us the ability to see all three sites in one day, have a drive through the beautiful countryside through quaint villages, and learn how all the sites in the area of Avebury and Stonehenge are connected. A very intimate way to experience these sites with Daniel’s expertise. Very relaxing and fun; had a great time chatting with Daniel. Definitely worth every penny and more!

An amazing view into the past! - We had an amazing day exploring Avebury and Stonehenge. Along the way Dan showed us interring sites including a roof being thatched, chalk horses, the homes of a few famous people. We never felt rushed, but we felt every minute was full of great tidbits of information. Lunch was lovely and conversation was stimulating. Dan always checked with us about our interests before pursuing a line of conversation further. It was a lot of fun speculating what people where thinking and doing during different times of artifact construction. I highly recommend the personal attention and discussion that Dan provides.

Fantastic Tour of Stonehenge and Avebury Stones - I would give Daniel a 6 out of 5! I had been fascinated by Stonehenge since I was a kid, and seeing it was always high on my list. I only recently became aware of the stones at Avebury when planning my trip to Stonehenge, and figured it would be interesting to see those as well. Daniel's tour seemed to fit the bill, so my wife and I hired him for the day. Daniel provided us with a fun, extremely memorable day! He picked us up in a very comfortable van, and toured us around via the backroads through numerous small, picturesque off the beaten track villages to our various destinations. He was extremely knowledgeable and really made the subject matter come alive. It was a fantastic tour, and I would highly recommend it.
