Great value and great instruction’s for the multi-pitch climbing course - My partner and I recently took the multi-pitch climbing course from Adam. The course was well structures with lots of very informative ground demonstrations of the various techniques and tools we would be using plus ample time climbing and putting the techniques into practice. Adam guided us up the various pitches and gently instructed us as we employed his teachings on how to properly build anchors, belay, manage rope, rappel, etc. He was very relaxed and easy going which made the whole experience less stressful and more enjoyable for us. We feel like we got plenty of experience and that this course was a great value for the money.

Great climbing experience! - After several years of my not climbing, and getting older, Russell—our guide was good at encouraging, directing and challenging me up the wonderfully featured faces of Penitentiary Hollow outside Mineral Wells. I came away with a sense of accomplishment and look forward to meeting Russell for another outing at another Texas craig.

Best (first - time) climbing experience outside in the wild we could have asked for! - Myself and my partner completed a 5 hour beginnings lesson today with Russell. What can I say! It was absolutely incredible and we loved every single minute! Russell was so friendly and made us feel safe, comfortable and at ease right away! He gave us lots of great advice on technique and general climbing etiquette! 100% would highly recommend to anyone. We have had a small amount of indoor climbing experience but never outside, and we couldn’t have asked for a better first experience on the rock than we had today! Thanks again to Rock-About and Russell! :)

Excellent summer camp for kids who like adventure - My daughter absolutely loves this camp each year. Lots of outdoor climbing opportunities to give real world climbing experience. Kids are taught all aspects of climbing and safety. It does get hot but lots of breaks for playing in the water and my daughter loves the day where they go get ice cream at the end of the day. Also a great opportunity for your kid to see parts of Austin and surrounding areas that might not have seen before when they go climbing.

Climbing at Mineral Wells - Took a small group of American Heritage Girls to climb with Rock About at Mineral Wells State Park. So fun! We had 2 guides, and they worked through the badge requirements and all the girls learned a lot and climbed well.

Enchanted Rock - I booked a beginner toprope session for my first outdoor excursion with these guys, Sean was amazing.
My climb was set for an iffy Friday morning. After narrowly dodging some bad weather, we set out on the approach up to our site. Sean walked me through groundschool and showed me the standard safety stuff, the figure 8, and a few cool new tips I hadn't heard in an indoor toprope class. Super helpful!
Sean picked out a few fun problems and was able to give me lots of beta, and during the climbs made things a lot less intimidating (I just boulder, mostly! This was totally alien to me!) while also pushing juuust the right amount.
I had an amazing time with these guys, I was getting VERY OBVIOUS "best experience ever" chills between climbs

Always great - This is our 5th or 6th session with Rock-About. Every time, every instructor has been an excellent experience. We've gone from complete beginners to lead climbing over those sessions. The instructors are always engaging - they meet you at your skill level. If you are looking to learn or to just have an expert show you the best places to climb that fit your level of expertise, this company is perfect.

Best Outdoor Rock Climbing Intro - We had the greatest day with Russell.
Part of the reason we picked Austin for a quick spring break trip was because of the rock climbing trips offered by Rock-About, so you can imagine our nerves when the weather forecast showed rain for the day we had scheduled for our climb. We got a call from Russell the night before suggesting that we push back our start time. The day of, it looked like it might not ever stop raining, but we decided to meet in the parking lot anyway...right as beautiful blue skies appeared. Whew!!!
Oh my gosh...I am so glad Russell was flexible with our start time and willing to wait out the rain. My son and I had the BEST time rock climbing with him. We got all of the safety and technique reminders at the start and then Russell let my son climb until he couldn't anymore...about 3 hours of non-stop action! He even convinced me to give it a try and was so encouraging that I actually made it up a route. Amazing!
If you are in Austin and thinking about hiring a rock climbing guide, either to try outdoor climbing for the first time or to improve your skills, you should absolutely hire this company. You will be so glad that you did.
