Unforgettable Time! - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our family had such an amazing time with Longhorn Kayak Tours! Paddle boarding down Lady Bird Lake was peaceful and so much fun, and the highlight was watching the bats take flight at sunset—it was truly unforgettable. Highly recommend for families looking for a unique Austin adventure!

Enjoyable, fun easy tour - It was a very fun activity. Pretty cool experience to see the bats up close, and see how many there were. Sean was a great guide, made it interesting. Definitely recommend.

Even our local friends loved this tour - This is a small group kayak tour. Sean started with a kayak lesson and asked about experience. Our group was two couples and we had prior experience. He takes beginners so don’t worry if it’s your first time. There were large groups doing this experience with and I was glad to not be in those. Our experience was small and personal. Sean helped load and unload the kayaks. He had us make a kayak island to give us great info of the city. He did tailor his talk and include my friends that are locals that knew some of the history too. Sean got us on the water before the other groups which was GREAT=Less traffic. We got to the bridge and Sean told us all about the bats, the best place to view, and where to look. My local friend said she’s tried a few times to see the bats from the bridge, but was not successful. She loved the tour and for us visiting we loved it. So MANT BATS, you can’t miss them on this tour. It was good exercise, about a mile of kayaking, no pace needed. We enjoyed Sean’s tour and it was a highlight of our trip.
Ps: no one was bit by a bat!

He is Batman - My boyfriend and I went on the bat tour. Sean was awesome. He was knowledgeable and funny. He even told us about some of the Austin skyline.
Pros: Fun, educational, unique
Con: did not get bit by bar and turned into vampire. (This was not offered, but would have been cool).

Great guide, great experience! - If you are looking to truly experience the lake and bats in Austin, this is the way to go! If you’re able to kayak, skip the big boat tours and do this instead. Views of the city skyline while in the water are wonderful. Watching the bats up close was so very cool. Lastly, Sean is a GREAT guide! He’s so personable and knowledgeable. I would do this again if/when I’m back in town.

Look at other tours. - It seems like we were an inconvenience and the guide had no desire to give a tour. I take my paddle board around Lady Bird often and go to the abyss occasionally. While out I have seen tours and when my niece came to visit I thought I would purchase a tour. This was a waste of money as the guide shared very little information. Basically he just guided us to the bridge. I could have easily done that in my own. While at the bridge I had tour guide envy as the other tours had interesting guides giving actual tours. Look for another company to take your tour from. I had a nice cash tip that stayed in my pocket. Next time show a little effort.

Extremely disappointing experience - Extremely disappointing experience. We're a family of four with two young kids (9 and 6). The guide advised us to book two single kayaks, suggesting that each parent could take one child, as no double kayaks were available. He assured us that the singles would be fine with kids—but they clearly weren’t. These kayaks were not designed to hold both an adult and a child. They were lightweight, unstable, and extremely difficult to maneuver. We struggled to paddle effectively or make any real progress on the water. It felt unsafe and was far from the enjoyable family activity we had hoped for.
The guide went forward with the rest of the group without waiting for us. We were literally stuck in the middle of the lake with the kayak not moving at all. It was not like we weren't trying. At one point, we even lost sight of the group. Upon calling the guide and asking for help, he was rude and refused to even come to check on us, stating 'you are adults and can manage on your own and I cannot ruin the trip for other people on the group'. I mean, excuse me, we also came to enjoy. You are the guide, you are there to assist. How can you leave customers in the middle of nowhere? What if an accident occurred? The kayak flipped? We had mentioned that the kids did not know how to swim.
He eventually did come and told us to head back to the dock and LEFT. So, we paid in full, did not get to watch the bats and basically ruined the entire day. Went home with super disappointed kids on the last day of our trip to Austin. Absolutely not worth it. Book with someone else.
