Highlights

Cusco – Pacchanta – Ausangate

Saylla - Saylla, known as the Capital of Andean Esotericism, is a place where you can enjoy hearty meals.

The local chicharronerías are must-visit spots, but diners can also choose from oven-roasted guinea pig, festive fried trout, or the nourishing tarpuy uchu, a traditional dish featuring guinea pig, quinoa, tarwi, and pumpkin tortillas, among other locally sourced ingredients.

Tipon - Tipón is an Archaeological Park dedicated to the worship of water. It features enclosures, terraces, platforms, irrigation systems, and more.

Oropesa - This district, also known as “Villa Rica de Oropesa” and “Oropesa, tourist capital of the southern valley,” is rich in ecological, archaeological, architectural, historical, and cultural resources.

Andahuaylillas - The main attraction in Andahuaylillas is the San Pedro de Andahuaylillas church, often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel” of America due to its exquisite artwork. Built by the Jesuits in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, the church features wide walls typical of colonial buildings, a mural-adorned facade, and two stone columns at the main entrance. While its architecture is modest, the interior decoration is truly impressive.

Urcos - Urcos is a charming city situated at 3130 meters above sea level and serves as the capital of the Quispicanchi province in the heart of the Cuzco region. Its strategic location makes it a key point for commercial exchange, as it lies on the road connecting several cities.

Ocongate - Ocongate is one of the twelve districts in the Province of Quispicanchi, located in the Department of Cuzco, Peru, and governed by the Regional Government of Cuzco. It borders the district of Ccarhuayo to the north, the district of Pitumarca in the province of Canchis to the south, the districts of Quiquijana and Cusipata to the southwest, the district of Marcapata to the east, and the districts of Ccatca and Urcos to the west.

Aguas Termales Pacchanta - After breakfast, we will leave Cusco early in the morning for a three-hour trip in private transport to the small village of Pacchanta (3,800 meters / 12,464 feet). Along the way, we will stop to visit the Sistine Chapel of Cusco and pass through beautiful landscapes and traditional villages such as Urcos, Cattca, and Ocangate. The first three hours of the journey offer a wonderful prelude to the magnificent scenery of the Cordillera Vilcanota, with stunning views of Ausangate. We will stay at the hot springs in Pacchanta (4400 meters / 14,432 feet), which provide fantastic views of Ausangate at the end of the valley.

Otorongo Qocha

Nevado Ausangate - We will start our day with a special breakfast before heading towards the sacred lagoons of APU AUSANGATE. Accompanied by MAMA COCA, we will follow the ancestral paths to the APACHETA (a pass between two mountains or valleys), where we will make offerings to the various APUS and MAMACOCHAS to welcome us. We will share sacred leaves and then descend to the sacred lagoons of OTORONGO COCHA and ANCASH COCH to purify our bodies and spirits, transforming ourselves into crystals like the snows of APU AUSANGATE. Finally, we will return to the community of PACCHANTA for lunch and have the opportunity to appreciate some local textile works.

Pacchanta - Cusco

Aguas Termales Pacchanta - Enjoy a relaxed morning with an optional visit to the hot springs, offering an amazing view of the mountain. Afterward, we will start packing up to return to Cusco, with a free afternoon ahead.

Additional Information

Overlooking the city of Cusco to the southeast is the imposing Ausangate, reaching a height of 6372m. This mountain serves as the guardian deity of the city, holding the highest position amongst the Apus, the enlivened Mountain Gods revered by the inhabitants of the Peruvian Andes. While journeying around its frosted slopes, you’ll traverse towering mountain passes and stop at secluded Andean settlements. The land gifts you with turquoise lakes and hot springs, courtesy of Pachamama, the Earth Mother. A chance to show gratitude to her is presented via one of our Healing Workshops.
