- This experience requires a minimum number of travellers. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
- Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for the conditions, Sun protection, jacket/warm layer, & any essential personal items.
- This is a guided walking tour and sensible walking footwear is recommended.
- Bring a camera or a phone with camera capability as Hobbiton is the perfect place to get some great travel photos.
- You must be at least 18 years of age and present a valid photo ID in order to consume alcohol.
- Tours are suitable for people of all ages and average fitness.
- Tours operate in all weather conditions; umbrellas are provided in the event of rain.
- There is uneven terrain on the set; approximately 75% is wheelchair accessible.
- We can accommodate a stroller or a pram, provided it is fully collapsible and can fit in the luggage compartment of our buses.
- The only way to access the Hobbiton Movie Set is with a guided tour.
- You must be able to climb and descend stairs and walk on unpaved or uneven terrain.

A great Lord of the Rings experience! - I had booked another tour with Karthik earlier during my holidays, and he is such a nice guy that I actually book the Hobbiton experience with him. He will do everything to try and accommodate you in the best way possible; his customized van is super comfy (and the free WiFi is a +).
He's very knowledgeable about all of NZ and he will provide you with excellent pieces of information (he knows about NZ history, volcanic activity, important dates, Maori culture; he has travelled all over NZ), he can recommend the best hikes, the best places to visit, the best tours to go on etc...
The Hobbiton movie set in itself takes about two hours to visit (it is a fully guided tour), it is a MUST see if you're a Lord of the Rings/Tolkien fan, and even if you're not, it's still very cute (just don't forget to bring warm clothes).
On our way back from Hobbiton, Karthik even asked if we wanted to go to Hamilton (35 minutes away) and visit the Hamilton Gardens, free of charge! He waited for us for one hour and a half, the perfect amount of time for us to visit the Gardens. I don't think any other bus guide would have offered that visit opportunity! So you can see why Karthik is so invested in his job: he will make your journey aboard his bus the best possible.
I've travelled with ExperienceKart two times, and I'm so glad that I did!

Top notch tour guide - Karthik was an amazing tour guide who obviously was very passionate about his job and the area. His local knowledge was outstanding. The bus itself was very comfortable and it was a smooth trip both ways. He handled our tickets for the attraction and was willing to take photos and give helpful suggestions. The complementary refreshments were thoughtful and appreciated. Overall he made the day so much better and it couldn't have been a more stress-free experience.
