Join our local guide and historian, Ms. Stephanie, who boasts three decades of residence and work in Atlanta, including working with three of the city’s Mayors. The tour being offered is a guided one, though self-led tours are available at no cost. Explore the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., tracing his journey from his childhood on Auburn Ave, once renowned as the wealthiest street for African-Americans, to his groundbreaking work in the Civil Rights Movement. This walking tour encompasses the district’s remarkable history. Starting at the Visitor Center, we will take a short stroll to Auburn Ave, where you’ll learn about its historical significance and fame. We’ll proceed to Auburn towards the area of Dr. King’s childhood home, and also visit the splendid Reflecting Pool and the burial sites of Dr. and Mrs. King, Jr. The tour will conclude at Ebenezer Baptist Church where Dr. King, Jr, his father, and grandfather served as pastors.
