Great food tour to try loads! - My teenager daughter and I had a wonderful time on the Eat Like an Athenian Food Tour! We sampled several dishes and drinks with wonderful explanations by Agathi. I would recommend doing this trip early in your stay so you can get wonderful recommendations to try during your trip. We did the evening tour and it was great to see the cafe culture up close with a local guide.

We definitely ate like Athenians - Agatha was an excellent guide who matched our needs for a tour perfectly. Every place she guided us to was delicious and she was very informative about the areas we walked through, sharing history and modern insights. We very much enjoyed our tour and would recommend to anyone travelling to Athens to start their trip with this, as it gives a great understanding of the key areas you want to visit in Athens city centre.

An intro to Athenian food - Our tour guide Agathi brought us to lovely family-run establishments, which were frequented by locals. We got an appreciation for the typical Athenian breakfast, tried Greek coffee made the traditional way in a bed of hot sand. Despite not having any breakfast before the tour, we could barely finish all the food samples. Seeing the variety of fresh fish in the food market worked up our appetite for seafood and Agathi gave us the perfect recommendation for a seafood dinner near our hotel. We also checked out a wine bar that she recommended where we continued our exploration of Greek wines.

Must do in Athens! - Our tour guide was amazing! We started off with local cheese and wine which was amazing! We went on to try lots of other foods, both savory and sweet. The olive oil shop was our favorite and we were able to purchase some bottles to take home.

Good way to sample foods and see Athens in one tour! - We enjoyed the tour, our guide Agatha was excellent with follow-up text messages prior to our tour. We went through neighborhoods that we would have missed had we not taken the tour, so it was a good way of getting the lay of the land. The tasting started with desserts (loukoumades) and ended with street food (gyros, souvlakis), which i would've preferred the reverse order. All in all it was a good way to sample foods and see Athens in one tour!

NEVER took the tour.... refund refused. - My wife and I booked this tour and we were at the meeting location at the time specified. Unfortunately, there was another tour that was meeting at the same time and location as ours. In short, we went with the wrong tour guide, ugh, how could we have done that??? Well, the guide showed up and asked if we were all here for the tour. Of course we said yes. He never said which tour and we didn't ask (I know, our bad). By the time we figured out that we were on the wrong tour, it was too late to catch up with the food tour. We learned from another participant that another tour guide (presumably the food tour guide) asked the other tour guide if there was anyone in his group that was there for the food tour and, apparently, he said no. We did not see or hear that discussion. The food tour guide did not address the group asking if anyone was there for the food tour nor did the food tour guide call out our names. The food tour guide did send us a text and called us but we did not have service at the time as we were from out of the country. Well this is partially my fault as we should have been more proactive making sure that we were on the right tour but who would have guessed there were 2 tours at the same time from the same location. However, I believe the guide bears some responsibility for not calling out our names or not asking the group directly if anyone was there for the food tour. I explained this to viator and asked for a refund but they put the responsibility back on me. Disappointed we paid for a tour that we did not get to experience and I feel we should have been at least partially refunded.
