Taste of local Greece - We loved the food tour! Our guide took us to where no tourists go. We had the best, freshest and most authentic food. We found out where the locals go to eat, drink coffee, buy food supplies and met some fabulous and friendly local merchants. Definitely recommend this tour!

Excellent walking food tour in Athens! - Mike was a gracious food tour host! This tour is highly rated for a reason! We started with Spanikopita & cheese pies, falafels, (for the vegetarians) and souvlaki. We had wine with dolmades & dips, cheeses and small items. Next, a tour through the fish market with ‘hellos’ at every stall and a meat market tour as well where we learned about how important Easter is. Each section of the markets have different offerings including fruits, nuts & olives. Greek coffees at Mokka are historic followed by various sweet snacks. Melira’s honey tasting was a highlight! The tour ended with a dinner of mezza. Beans, anchovies, greens, zucchini fritters, fried cheese, stuffed peppers, calamari, sausage, yogurt with strawberries. Delicious and educational tour!

An great tour that could cater for coeliac! - We really enjoyed our food tour with Katerina, who was a great host and made sure we all had an enjoyable few hours. She was full of information on not just the stops and food on the tour, but Athens as a local resident too. There isn't much walking involved at all, and plenty of food! Our favourite parts were the sit down sections (particularly the coffee and greek yoghurt) and the trip to the honey shop. I have coeliac disease and have not done a single food tour since being diagnosed, but Katerina was fantastic at planning ahead for me, checking with shop owners what was safe or not, and giving me honest opinions e.g. one time it was 'this should be gluten free but we're not 100% on the processing so I'd probably skip it' which was exactly the level of honesty I needed and I really appreciated it (I did skip that!). Overall I'd say I could eat about 85% of the food, there were substitutions for 10% for me to ensure I could eat similar (e.g. breaded fish for others was subbed with non-breaded chicken for me), and only 5% I didn't eat (because of warnings like the above). If you are gluten free and not coeliac, I don't rememeber anything you couldn't either eat or have a substitute for. We had a wonderful few hours and would highly recommend!
