On this historic hill, you can explore the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Athena Nike, the grand entrance (Propylaea), the Erechtheum, and the renowned Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
- Propylaea - The Propylaea serves as the grand entrance to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess. Designed by architect Mnesicles using Pentelic marble, its design was innovative. To the southwest of the Propylaea, on a bastion guarding the main entrance to the Acropolis, stands the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.
- Parthenon - The Parthenon is the principal temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena, symbolizing Athenian Democracy and Western Civilization.
- Erechtheion - A temple dedicated to Poseidon and Athena, known as the most unique and sacred site in ancient Athens.
- Temple of Athena Nike - A temple devoted to the goddess Athena Nike, or Wingless Victory.
- Theater of Dionysus - The Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus is a significant theatre in Athens, recognized as the world’s first theatre, located at the base of the Athenian Acropolis.
- Herod Atticus Odeon - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theatre structure on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. Completed in 161 AD, it was renovated in 1950.
- Panathenaic Stadium - Visit the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
- Dromeas - Created by Kostas Varotsos in 1988, Dromeas features glass fragments that interact with natural and artificial light, as well as water, in its initial version. As the first public modern art piece in Athens, it sparked discussions and debates.
- Mount Lycabettus - Journey to the historical city center and ascend Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens, offering the best panoramic views from the Acropolis hill to the Aegean Sea.
- The Academy of Athens - The Academy Building is part of an “architectural trilogy” and was established on March 18th, 1926, as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts.
- The Academy of Athens - The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is Greece’s largest state higher education institution and one of Europe’s largest universities. Designed by Danish architect Christian Hansen, it was completed in 1864.
- National Library of Greece - Constructed at the end of the 19th century, the National Library of Greece is the final piece of Athens’ Architectural Trilogy, which includes the Academy and the University. Designed by Theophil Hansen.
- Hellenic Parliament - The Hellenic Parliament, known in Greek as Voulí ton Ellínon, is Greece’s parliament, located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square in Athens. It is the supreme democratic institution representing citizens through elected Members of Parliament.
- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Witness the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, now the Parliament House, above Athens’ central square.
- Plateia Syntagmatos - Syntagma Square is Athens’ central square, named after the Constitution granted by Otto, Greece’s first King, following a popular and military uprising on September 3, 1843.
- Ancient Agora of Athens - The Ancient Greek Agora is considered the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, and free speech.
- Acropolis Museum - Alternatively, visit the Acropolis Museum instead of the Ancient Agora. Upon entering, view the ruins of an ancient Athenian neighborhood through the plexiglass floor, skillfully integrated into the museum’s design after being uncovered during excavations. This stunning modernist museum at the Acropolis’ southern slope showcases its remaining treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection spans the Archaic and Roman periods, it emphasizes the 5th century BCE Acropolis, regarded as the pinnacle of Greece’s artistic achievement.
- Monastiraki - A historically rich neighborhood in Athens.

This tour is fantastic - Our driver was Babis and we felt so fortunate to have him. He showed up early at the cruise port, sign in hand, and kept in touch with me on what’s app. It was a perfect day of sightseeing with the tickets already purchased. The tour was capped off at the end with a delicious lunch. We were quite pleased and felt like we got a great bargain!

Private Athens Tour…Best Choice! - We were picked up at Piraeus Port by our private tour guide I believe his name was Jonathan. We saw many impressive sights in Athens…The President’s home, The Prime Minister’s home, The Parliament Building, The Changing of the Guard, The Acropolis, The Parthenon, The Temple of Zeus, The Stadium, and Ancient Agora. Jonathan took us up to the highest point in Athens called Mount Lycabettus. What an outstanding view of Athens! Additionally we stopped for our Greek lunch where we were treated to a lovely Greek salad with delicious fresh ingredients, a very filling gyro, and excellent baklava! A sightseeing private tour is the way to go and our guide took great care of us throughout the day!

Informative, interesting and safe - This was an amazing tour. The driver and tour guide Alexander was very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us a history of Greece and Greek mythology. He and the other guide Arepostle were patient and kind. Our daughter used a wheelchair and they were assisting us to get the special needs she has. Lunch was great too!

AMAZING Athens Tour - We had an amazing private, full day tour in Athens. Dimitris was a perfect host/guide. He took his time to share his knowledge of his city, history and culture. Made several stops between the Acroplis, Temple of Zues, Mount Lycabettus and the ancient Agora to share more about the history of Athens. Dimitris timed a perfect stop on a Sunday to see the changing of the guards at the Presidential Palace and the guards were in their dress uniforms.
Thank you Dimitris for a memorable day! We learned so much from you and you are a professional and passionate guide!

Athens in a day - could not ask for more! - Andreas met us at our hotel promptly at 9am and from the very first moment feeling his energy and passion - we knew our day ahead would be fabulous! As a local living in the heart of Athens, we loved how Andreas helped us to see not only the historic sites, but also sharing about his personal experience with the local insights. Having the pre-arranged tickets saved a ton of time and we were given excellent instructions on how to navigate each site at our own pace. Plenty of water and a beautiful air conditioned car navigated by Andreas bypassing the congestion was appreciated. A traditional lunch was included which was plentiful and peaceful. We could not have hoped for any better way to take in the highlights of Athens in a more comfortable, relaxing, perfectly paced and most impressively - personable way then spending the day with Andeas.
