Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, your Lion King safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation. This morning, you will journey to Tarangire National Park, a drive of about two and a half hours on well-maintained roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the sole water source for wildlife during the dry season. Known for its elephant herds, the park also hosts giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest. Predators like lions and leopards are often seen following these animals. Tarangire boasts more breeding bird species than anywhere else in the world! The park is also home to ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site within the park. After your game drive, you will travel to your accommodation in Karatu.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - Following breakfast, you will ascend into the cooler areas of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an opportunity to view the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. You will then proceed through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti, entering from the south.
The Serengeti is truly magnificent! Renowned for its vast open grasslands, it offers excellent wildlife viewing. The park is teeming with wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. Alongside the iconic landscapes, there is a high chance of spotting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. After your game drive, you will head to your accommodation in time for dinner.
Northern Serengeti National Park
Migration at Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, you will journey through the Serengeti towards the northern region, pausing to take in more wonders along the way! While the Serengeti is rich in wildlife, it is most famous for the annual great migration. During this event, massive herds of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope move in search of fresh grazing. The migration can be observed at any time of year, depending on the location. At this time, it typically occurs in the Northern Serengeti.
Northern Serengeti National Park
Migration at Serengeti National Park - This part of the Serengeti features hills, riverine forests, plains, and rocky outcrops. The mighty Mara River flows through this area, setting the stage for the breathtaking river crossing you may witness. During this crossing, over two million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and antelope brave the Mara River in search of fresh grazing and water. As they undertake this incredible journey, Nile crocodiles add to the challenge! On the opposite side, lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs await with eager anticipation for a meal.
Northern to Central Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, you will gradually make your way back to Central Serengeti with a game drive en route. You may wish to continue your search for the migrating animals before departing this remarkable place. Each day in the Serengeti offers new discoveries and endless exploration.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - This morning, you will leisurely travel back through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, encountering more wildlife along the way (it’s common to see giraffes on the lush slopes). You should arrive at the crater by lunchtime.
Upon first sight, Ngorongoro Crater resembles a lost world. Hidden by steep volcanic walls, it encompasses sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Formed by a volcanic explosion and collapse two to three million years ago, the descent into the crater is an adventure itself. On the crater floor, you will find large herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 bird species. The crater offers the best chance to see the endangered black rhino, occasionally spotted in the open grasslands. After an afternoon game drive, you will head to your accommodation in Karatu.
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park - This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, the final stop on this incredible safari! Manyara is a small yet diverse park located 120km west of Arusha. Everything here is on a grand scale. It is compact (one of Africa’s narrowest parks) yet epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western edge). The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake, which floods and dries with the seasons, hosting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. You may spot baboons and elephants in the park’s dense evergreen forest and look out for the tree-climbing lions that have gained fame across Africa.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park. After your game drive, you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed your adventure with Lion King Adventures.
