Katavi National Park - Early in the morning, our guide/driver will pick you up at the hotel and take you to Arusha Municipal Airport (ARK) for a chartered bush flight to Katavi National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your friendly guide who will escort you to your stylish and authentic tented safari camp where you’ll have lunch. Later, you’ll begin your unforgettable safari adventure in Katavi National Park. Katavi is at its best during the dry season when the plains are teeming with thousands of zebra, topi, and impala. Hartebeest, giraffe, and Defassa waterbuck are also very common, and there’s a large population of resident elephants and impressive herds of buffalo. Katavi is an excellent park for observing lion-buffalo interactions. Spotted hyenas are frequently seen, while leopards appear on the woodland fringes but are more elusive. Wild dogs live here but tend to stay on the escarpment and are rarely seen on the plains. After a short game drive, you’ll return to your accommodation.
Katavi National Park (Tuesday)
Katavi National Park - Early in the morning after breakfast, you can choose to go on a dawn-to-dusk game viewing with a packed lunch as you explore this remote western wilderness, or return to camp between game drives for lunch and relaxation. Katavi is the third-largest park in Tanzania but is one of the least visited; you will likely see no other vehicles during your stay. Nowhere else showcases buffalo and lion duels quite like Katavi; game drives here can be incredibly thrilling! Katavi is also famous for its enormous crocodile and hippo populations. The huge hippo pool can see up to 600 hippos at its peak, and nowhere else in Africa do crocodiles hibernate in dens as they do here. After a full day of game drives, you’ll return to your accommodation at Katavi Wildlife Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Katavi National Park (Wednesday)
Katavi National Park - After a delicious breakfast at the camp, you’ll set out to enjoy the massive populations of hippos, buffalo, and elephants as they are drawn to the various rivers of Katavi to drink. On this day, you’ll likely see lions, hyenas, and other predators who know their prey are drawn here. Perhaps this is a day for a leisurely walking safari or a boat safari. Raptors are plentiful, while the woodlands of the national park are home to species as diverse as African golden orioles, paradise flycatchers, and pennant-winged nightjars. After a full day of game drives, you’ll return to your accommodation at Katavi Wildlife Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Katavi National Park (Thursday)
