DAY 1: FROM ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Tarangire National Park - Distance: 120km
Out-of-game viewing time: 2 hours
The tour kicks off after breakfast. The first stop is Arusha town for any last-minute shopping before embarking on the safari. The journey then continues to Tarangire National Park for a game drive, with a picnic lunch in the park. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant population and majestic baobab trees. It is central to an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras, along with lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, ostriches, warthogs, and the acacia savannah. The safari guide will navigate through various areas to ensure a unique game drive experience, away from the crowds of other safari jeeps, providing detailed explanations about the park. The guide will take you close to the Tarangire River to observe animals that come to drink during the day, and it is also a prime spot to witness hunting as predators frequent the river in search of food. Later in the evening, the safari guide will drive you to your lodge accommodation at the Farm of Dreams.
DAY 2: TARANGIRE TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti National Park, traveling through the picturesque high-altitude farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon reaching the Ngorongoro gate, there will be a brief stop for an introduction to the area and an opportunity to take photos at the gate. Proceed to the crater viewpoint for a stunning view of the Ngorongoro Crater, accompanied by explanations from your safari guide, and enjoy taking more photos. Continue the safari, descending into the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its vast plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Head to the central area of the park, known as the Seronera area, one of the park’s richest wildlife habitats, along with the Seronera River, which provides a vital water source and attracts a diverse range of Serengeti species. Arrive in time for lunch, enjoy your meal at Naabi Gate, and then proceed with the game drive.
SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Rise early in the morning to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, then depart with a packed breakfast to ensure comfort during the game drive. This is an excellent opportunity to witness hunting, as predators are more active during the night and early morning. The drive will take you from central Serengeti to the eastern research area, searching for cheetahs, lions on the rocks, and many other animals. The drive is conducted in a controlled area, away from the crowds of other safari jeeps, to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Serengeti. The game drive will continue until early afternoon. You can either return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or take a packed lunch with you. Then, return through the Serengeti, pack all your belongings, and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a game drive en route, observing more lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and hyenas.
FROM NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, your safari guide will drive you directly to Ngorongoro Crater, where you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to observe wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and food, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to a diverse range of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, elk, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another highlight of this scenic national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. A visit to Lake Magadi, a large shallow alkaline lake in the southwest corner, is one of the crater’s main attractions. Large numbers of flamingos, hippos, and other waterfowl are often seen here. Your safari guide will then drive to Engutoku Tok for a short walking safari near the hippo pool, where you can enjoy the company of hippos and use the washroom if needed, before driving for lunch before departure.
