After breakfast, continue your journey through the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, coffee, and corn. As you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, marvel at the stunning Ngorongoro Caldera, formed by a volcanic explosion three million years ago. Proceed to Serengeti National Park, known as ‘Endless Plain’ in the Maasai language, reaching there by late evening. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s largest park, featuring diverse landscapes such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. Witness the grand wildebeest and zebra migration, and depending on the season, observe thousands of animals in search of food and water. After an extensive game drive, head to Seronera Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Begin your day with an early coffee before setting out on a game drive in the Serengeti. You may spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – before traveling to the Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely in the unfenced reserves, providing an uninterrupted game viewing experience. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, catch your first glimpse of the wonders awaiting you the next day – sparkling streams, open grasslands, and countless animals. Spend the night at Simba Campsite on the crater’s edge, surrounded by the warm glow of sunset as you drift off to sleep.

Early risers will be treated to stunning views of the sunrise over the crater’s edge. After a hearty breakfast, descend the adventurous track into the crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of Africa’s seven wonders and one of the most remarkable ecosystems on Earth, was formed millions of years ago by a massive volcanic explosion. It is 610 meters deep and spans approximately 260 square kilometers. With a dense animal population of around 25,000, the crater offers the best game viewing in all of Tanzania’s parks. In just minutes, you can see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and some of the over 500 bird species in the area. With a bit of luck, you might even spot the endangered black rhino through the grass.

After lunch, ascend the steep crater walls and head back to Arusha for an overnight stay.
