Arusha to Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - Following breakfast, you’ll join other travelers for the journey to Serengeti. The name Serengeti comes from the Masai word Siringitu, meaning “endless plains.” You’ll understand why the Maasai named it this as the grassland savannah extends to the horizon in the South, interrupted only by the unique kopjes. These kopjes are unusual rock formations created by the weathering of granite outcrops. The plains are ideal hunting grounds for leopards and other big cats, giving you a great opportunity to see these majestic animals in their natural environment through the vehicle’s open roof. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the day’s destination, the Seronera Valley in central Serengeti. You’ll camp overnight in “safari styled” tents, enjoying a delicious meal in the heart of the African bush.
Serengeti Full Day
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, you’ll continue your game drive through Serengeti National Park. You’ll witness hundreds of wildebeests and zebras, and often lions and other big cats like leopards and cheetahs in the Seronera Valley. After lunch at a picnic site, you’ll head towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, the caldera will unfold before you, offering a stunning view of this remarkable natural wonder. You’ll camp overnight on the crater’s edge, enjoying the fantastic view as the sun sets.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast at dawn, you’ll descend into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera and boasts incredible wildlife diversity. In the grass steppe and acacia woodlands, you’ll find nearly all species present in the East African savannah, except for topis, Masai giraffes, and impalas. Often, you can spot the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) within a few hours. Later, you’ll drive to Arusha for departure, arriving around 4pm.
