Kilimanjaro, located approximately 100 kilometers to the northeast. To the west lies the Serengeti National Park, home to diverse wildlife including lions, rhinoceroses, giraffes, and leopards. As a bustling tourist hub, Arusha is the starting point for journeys to the parks according to your itinerary.
Tarangire National Park - Situated in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River that traverses the park. Spanning around 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles), the park’s landscape features granitic ridges, river valleys, and swamps. The vegetation includes Acacia and Combretum woodlands, seasonally flooded grasslands, and iconic baobab trees. The park is renowned for its high concentration of elephants and baobab trees. During the dry season from June to November, visitors can witness large herds of thousands of zebras, wildebeests, and Cape buffalo. Other commonly seen animals include waterbucks, giraffes, dik-diks, impalas, elands, Grant’s gazelles, vervet monkeys, banded mongooses, and olive baboons. Predators in Tarangire include lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, honey badgers, and African wild dogs.

Ngorongoro Crater Tour
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in Tanzania’s Crater Highlands. Named after the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera within its bounds, the area is managed by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, a branch of the Tanzanian government. Its borders align with the Ngorongoro Division of the Arusha Region.
Ngorongoro Crater - The centerpiece of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. Formed when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, the crater is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep and its floor spans 260 square kilometers (100 square miles). The original volcano’s height is estimated to have been between 4,500 and 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet). The crater floor is situated 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level. In February 2013, the crater was recognized by Seven Natural Wonders as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders in Arusha, Tanzania. The Ngorongoro volcano was active from approximately 2.45 to 2 million years ago.
