Arusha Town - Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, situated 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in Tanzania’s Crater Highlands. It is named after the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera within its bounds. Managed by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, a branch of the Tanzanian government, its borders align with the Ngorongoro Division of the Arusha Region.
Ngorongoro Crater - The centerpiece of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. Formed by the collapse of a massive volcano two to three million years ago, the crater is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep and spans 260 square kilometers (100 square miles). The original volcano is estimated to have been between 4,500 and 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet) high. The crater floor is situated 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level. In February 2013, it was recognized by Seven Natural Wonders as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders in Arusha, Tanzania. The Ngorongoro volcano was active from approximately 2.45 to 2 million years ago.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Serengeti National Park
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast, enjoy a game drive en route through the Conservation Area to your lodge in the renowned Serengeti National Park for lunch. This afternoon, explore various sections of Tanzania’s largest National Park before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Serengeti National Park - The Serengeti National Park, located in the Serengeti ecosystem within the Mara and Simiyu regions of Tanzania, is celebrated for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white-bearded (or brindled) wildebeest and 250,000 zebras, as well as its numerous Nile crocodiles and honey badgers.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - Today, with your guide, who serves as both host and companion, decide on the time to wake up and spend the entire day seeking wildlife, aiming to spot all of the Big Five. The wildebeest migration is a unique phenomenon here as well. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras migrate south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, then move west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. Their ancient instinct to migrate is so strong that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can deter them. Return to your lodge for dinner.
