Incroyable - Museum really amazing. The Caen Memorial is one of the most beautiful we have visited. Immersion in the Second World War is total, we allow ourselves to be completely transported by the richness of the contents and the emotion that emerges from it. We also enjoyed the retro space, which brings an original touch to the whole. The entrance fee is largely justified. The gardens are superb and perfectly maintained. I recommend 10,000%! Little clarification: the visit can be a little long with young children, to be expected according to their age and patience.

Excellent spacious and important WWII Memorial. - We caught a Public bus out from Caen where we were staying. The Office de Tourisme in Caen is outstanding. Our School French is hideous sadly but all Staff went to great efforts to provide us with Bus info. Easy trips out and back. The Caen Memorial building is modern, spacious and facilities and Staff excellent. The various Halls and Theatres easily accessed and crowds flowed well. It was extremely well done and evocative of the timeline and horror. The World looked on and ignored the visible signs of madness for years. As relevant today as ever. The separate Elevator access to a Bunker was well done too. Lovely garden area. The Gift Shop had a huge Book Store stocked with relevant material. Very upmarket Restaurant. In 2023 we had managed to visit the D Day Beaches whilst staying in beautiful Bayeux but think Caen might be an easier town to Hub in actually for access to all the beaches and other memorials and museums.

Perfect. - Great exhibition organization thanks to which you can walk during the worst European darkness walking on the rubble of our peoples

Ok - Interactive, entertaining presentation of the eras. At times graphic, a bit sad and graphic, and others, a bit too light hearted, in my opinion.

To see - Suggestive, nice review of history, maybe a bit expensive the entrance fee despite the Family plan. Absolutely to follow with audio guide

Good material, but misused - disappointed - I only gave 3 stars because I stayed hungry during this visit. Indeed, objects and photos give emotion but the sequence of events, taken one after the other, disappointed me a little. I visited the memorial of Peronne on the First World War and I did not find in Caen the height gain to understand the reasons for certain situations or decisions. Some summaries or no side were missing that would have given me to see the picture in its entirety. In particular, I found the Pacific war sections too succinct. The landing room is only a list of dates and, as for the rest, this lacks explanation. For example, we see a gallen station, it is said that it is easy to manufacture itself. But what a gallen post is never explained. Finally, we went to see the "Film 360° immersive": “Europe, our history”. I found this way of projecting images everywhere chaotically very uncomfortable. We must constantly turn to see everywhere if we really want to see everything and as for the rest, there is only an accumulation of images illustrating events but without any explanation. In addition, it would perhaps be interesting to revisit the subject a little and because even if this is Europe we are talking about, it is not isolated from the rest of the world and in this film, it seems that if...

Very expensive for what it is - Passionate about Things to do around the landing, we were very disappointed by this short projection which brings nothing new. The most expensive movie screening ever.

To flee - Very disappointing. No comment. Just a succession of small movies and pictures. No emotion can be felt considering the way this film is made. I regret my 6 € not counting the 2.50 €/ hour for parking. A real scam

Waste of time and money. Doesn’t mention the very reason people visit that beach. The Mulberry B harbour. - What a waste of an opportunity. Overlooking the beach that saw the Mulberry B harbour built, the film is about the first 100 days after D-Day. A subject that is covered in other locations, and much better. Not a mention of the harbours. Yet this location is all about the harbours. Recommend - don’t waste your money. Unless they change the film. And be careful of the climb to the cinema, it’s very steep and punishing.

What have you done here? Shameful. - We have visited this cinema 5 times in the last 15 years or so, each time with different family members and friends. Originally, the film was effective and emotive. It showed the horrors of war, the noise of war, the destruction, the booming guns of the boats shelling the batteries prior to the invasion. It showed how it was during the landings and how it is today. Veterans talked of their experiences. "Some people can't imagine the horrors that took place here. Others, can't forget" I looked forward to new visitors being impressed with it, but what did I get? A new film, no booming guns, no film of before and today, a basic history lesson which is better told at other venues throughout Normandie. It finishes with some upbeat, Elvis style song that is so disrespectful of the victims of war it has been put together by someone who has no emotional attachment to the events of the landings.. Please can you throw out this latest travesty, this amateur clap trap? Just admit what a huge error of judgement you have made and reinstate the emotive and respectful film of years gone by. A complete waste of time and money.
